Windows 7 Nirvana Icon

I just switched our entire department to Windows 7 Professional x64.

In the Windows 7 taskbar, you can pin applications that you use often such as my Nirvana Chrome Application. My only problem is that the default Nirvana icon is terrible in quality and looks bad on my shiny new Windows 7 Workstation.

I know how to create an .ico file from a .png but the fluid icon provided by Nirvana adds white boarders around the .ico file after conversion.

I could create my own icon using Photoshop, but I was hoping the Nirvana developers had a nice .ico file that can be used already.

Does the Nirvana team provide a nice .ico file like they did for the Fluid Icon?

    Hi Proximo!

    Here is a cool site for doing exactly what you requested. I have also attached a link to the file already converted.

    Hope that helps.

    I use a similar utility to convert but the quality is not that great and the
    .ico version has a white boarder sometimes.

    I was hoping to have a high quality .ico that is 256 x 256.

    Thanks for the link. I will add it to my Graphics Bookmark folder. :-)

    @Photon,

    Thanks for the .ico

    I created my first one using http://www.convertico.com but for some reason the quality was not good. I checked my original .png file to make sure it was the fluid icon Nirvana supplied and it was.

    Now I just tried it again with my png image and it converted it with good quality but this was not the case the first time.

    Can't figure out why I got different results.

    In either case, thanks for sending the .ico but I can now replicate it using the same exact service from yesterday. :-)

    Now I will keep an eye out for it to make sure it does not change on me. (Paranoid)

    I keep changing the Icon to the one that is provided on the thread but every time I open the window in Chrome it replaces the Icon with the nasty old one. Any thoughts?

    This happens to me but it's not Chome. Sometimes it happens when my wallpaper changes or I change my Theme.

    I wish Nirvana could just create a high res icon like Google does for the apps. We would not need to mess with it.

    @Justin: I have no experience with Windows 7, but the same happened to me on Vista until I changed the icon's properties to "Read only". Since then I've never had this problem.

    @Lasse, thanks that actually worked. I mean it is a small thing but when your as nuts about the little things as I am it was driving me crazy.

    Thanks everyone for your help. I am loving Nirvana

    @Lasse,

    Good Idea. I wonder if that will work on W7.

    I LOVE W7. It's great looking, user friendly and has some really cool UI elements.

    Not to mention it's a 64-bit OS on a powerful workstation. :-)
