Nirvana for Lawyers

I've read a lot about GTD and several books. Nirvana is my first attempt with a web-based app. My main issue with productivity is I can't say "no" - which means I take on too many cases and can't keep up with all of the requirements of each. It's just a matter of time before something slips through the cracks and I call my malpractice carrier.

Any lawyers (or other professional service providers) out there using Nirvana?

I recall some posts on the official DavidCo GTD forums about GTD for lawyers and there have been some posts on the LinkedIn GTD group too. One solution that has been mentioned a number of times is "Getting Legal Done" (www.gettinglegaldone.com). I am not a lawyer and have no affiliation with this so am just passing it along as something worth checking out. No doubt there will be other solutions out there. You might need to spend a bit of time Googling.

I am a lawyer and long time GTD user

Currently Nirvana is "not-quite-yet", but the next update will smooth out things a bit.

Simply put: nivana (as for now) is not fast enough when it comes to task adding and processing.

Like I said: next update will handle that issue.

For calendar I am also using google calendar
and for reference and support materials (documents, court rulings in similar cases, web clippings related to the case) I am using Evernote.

Since "a case" will always have more than 1 step to handle you will have A LOT of projects going on and very few next actions.

Since it takes a lot of time to solve a case I do recomend using "inactive" function in Nirvana to put into inactive state those projects that have "waiting for" item as their next action required to move things foward.

    Example:

    Project: case A
waiting for: e-mail from client X with the agreement draft
    research solutions for XYZ
e-mail client X with my suggestions

I put those kind of projects into inactive, otherwise the list will become unreadable

I use inactive for Projects in a similar manner. It's simply a way for me to clean up the left navi so that I see the Projects I am focused on at the moment.
