Details are still vague, but it seems the developers of Wunderlist are on the verge of releasing a new service called Wunderkit that may approximate a GTD app. They are just about to launch the beta.

    Syafiig -

    Thanks.

I also think that Asana is the same. Pretty cool, but not for personal
    tasks.

I was holding back my opinion of Wunderkit but it seems those who are part of the beta have seen the major flaws as well.

I will be honest here. Even if I did not know what GTD was and had no concept of the wonderful and simple things that make GTD work, I would not use Wunderkit as a personal task and project management app.

Ouch I know. But that's how I feel about it at the moment. I honestly can't see how this is supposed to be a productive way of doing anything. One of the biggest productivity killers is Social and adding it into your everyday productivity makes little sense to me.

Every Workspace (Project) has it's own inbox. What? How in the world would that be productive. Let me check my 150 inboxes to see what needs to be processes or Let me decide which inbox this should go into. Makes no sense.

Every Workspace (Project) has no place for you to create task. You must create a List in order to add a task to a Project. Wait, the project is the container that should hold my task right? So why do I need to create a list in order to add a task? What would I call this list?

It's just very confusing and not very well though out.

Did I mention that you don't have a place to put your single task. You must also create a Workspace (Project) for your single task that are not projects. But wait. This workspace requires list as well, so I still can't add my single task to the Single Task Project and must create a list inside of it called "Next". WHAT?

    Yes.... It's that bad.

You can't link any task from one "Workspace" to another. So there is no way for me to have a task move to some other location to get my attention. You must open each and every Workspace to see what is going on in there. Not very productive at all.

They have a Feed like Facebook that puts all the latest activity from all Workspaces in one view. What a mess this is. I can see people that it suggest for me to follow, even if I don't know who they are. If I follow someone, I can see all the Workspaces they marked as Public. Wait.... WHAT? Now I have more Workspace's (Projects) cluttering up my life.

    Wunderkit = Major Fail.

Can they fix it? Maybe but I honestly don't think they have a good direction to start with so how would they know what to fix.

Just my initial opinion. This could all change, but it's how I feel at the moment.

    Proximo-

I agree 100%. I don't want public lists and followers. I want to get my
    stuff done.

And I don't know a single project manager who wants those distractions.

From the description it sounds like plain and simple Wunderlist combined with a decent calendar would be a better option.

I agree with you. If they simply added sub-task into Wunderlist, it would have been a better product than Wunderkit. At least you could use a normal task as a Project and the sub-task would be the project task.

    Proximo,

As I rely heavily on my phone for 50% of my work day I've gotten used to using Wunderlist with my Calendar when I'm away from the office. It's missing some functionality to be a fully fledged project management tool like Nirvana is but it has the all important native app which is necessary for my workflow. I use it as a basic list manager and get by okay with it as I can use other software for more complicated projects, which for me are few and far between.

Sub-tasks and repeated tasks would be nice but this will do for now until something better comes along. Nirvana, along with GID and Gqueues are all far more loaded with functions but none of them have mobile apps which I am comfortable using. I will certainly keep an eye on how the iphone app goes down with the members here, until then I am quite enjoying the simplicity and usability of the very basic Wunderlist.

    @Proximo

I just got my beta invite this morning and totally agree with your assessment.

The whole thing is so confusing. I eventually just gave up trying to figure it out.

    Google Wave anybody?

Too many functions without any clear direction - give Nirvana with its complete focus on GTD

Though I must say, I do think that Wunderkit has a nicer selection of wallpapers then Nirvana. I especially like the mac-like linen backdrop and the blueprint one.

I wonder if the Nirvana devs can eventually give us the option of uploading our own background images.

@Phil - it wouldn't surprise me to see a personal theme option in the future.

Might have to charge you extra for the blueprint one though ;-)

Thanks to Nirvana for allowing open dialog about the ever evolving digital world of GTD. Thanks to Proximo for his contributions, whenever I am evaluating a GTD solution I search "Wunderkit Proximo" or "Nirvana Proximo" for an honest unbiased opinion.

I agree with everyone here about Wunderkit. I waited months for what was supposed to be an amazing "GTD" tool. I could not believe what I was experiencing when I logged on after receiving my beta invitation. GTD!? What are they talking about? Do they even know what GTD is? I think not... It almost feels like people are using "GTD" as another name for "to do" now. Every headache is not a migrane just as every task manager is not suitable for GTD.

I am still torn between Nirvana and Doit. I like Doit because of the android app but the issue that Proximo raised about all tasks in a project showing on the next list is a huge problem for me.

    +1

I tried Wunderkit beta this week and what a disappointment. Dead on arrival as far as I'm concerned. Just goes to show that throwing lots of $$$ at something doesn't necessarily yield a good product.

Wunderkit wouldn't even allow me to log in with my email and password which is supposedly the same as for Wunderlist. I know others had the same problem but I am not going to bother pursuing it. No repeating tasks and no mobile solution means it's dead in the water for me in any case. I will just wait until Nirvana comes up with an android app and move over full time then.

In defense of Wunderkit, I don't think they ever said it was for "GTD". It obviously is not but I wanted to at least point that out.

It's probably great for people who work on school projects or community work. Not trying to be funny here, but I don't see how you would use it that well for professional work.

Wish them the best and it may be a great choice for people who don't use GTD and have a need for that type of setup. Can't think of many cases were that would be true, but one man's curse is another man's blessing.
