Details are still vague, but it seems the developers of Wunderlist are on the verge of releasing a new service called Wunderkit that may approximate a GTD app. They are just about to launch the beta.

Wunderlist is a simple/elegant task list app w/ cloud and mult-platform access. W'kit is being designed as a productivity and project management app. They seem to be well funded - recently raised Euro 0.5mm. I just signed-up for their beta:

I have been using Wunderlist and giving them feedback for quite some time. Wunderkit is the result of a lot of feedback with users who wanted more than a task manager but wanted a Project/Task manager that caters to GTD.

This is what Wunderkit is going to be. I am signed up for the beta already but waiting on my invite.

They are well funded and development is super fast.

They have that UI part NAILED!! Very competent team, a lot of attention to details. I see a bright future for those people

They already have over 1 Million + users.

Using Wonderlist, you know these guys know how to code, they understand simplistic UI and it's a pleasure to use. Wunderkit is going to provide the additional features people need to manage not only task but projects which was missing from Wunderlist.

I have high hopes for Wunderkit. :-)

I started using Wunderlist this past weekend. It's a pleasure to use on desktop, android and ipad. It just works! The UI is awesome. I went through their old blogs and was surprised to learn that it is was launched not long ago (Nov-10).

Glad to hear that Proximo is giving them feedback! The Wunderkit could be the next killer app.

I tried Wunderlist and it was not nearly as complete at Nirvana from a GTD perspective.

I tried both and quickly preferred Nirvana. Wunderlist wants too much, they're overdoing something. Did not like it at all.

Wunderlist is not capable of GTD. It's nothing more than a simple but great todo list.

This is why they are making Wunderkit. Wunderkit is going to provide task list, projects management, collaboration and social aspects.

Need to wait and see what they pump out.

This is my task manager of choice for the past month or so since they overhauled their android software and rebuilt it from scratch. Now it works. Still one or two grumbles but it's a genuine native app (not Titanium lookalike rubbish) and they have a basic but usable widget, one of the key features of android phones which is incredibly useful.

Wunderlist is very basic, there's some features missing like repeat tasks, and Calendar integration, but in the meantime I'm using Google Calendar for those. On the credit side, it's incredibly quick and simple to use, looks great and most importantly for me, they are always updating their products across the board. Improvements aren't just rolled out across the desktop and web apps, they pay equal attention to their mobile clients, and if you are an android user this is like manna from heaven.

PS. Wunderkit looks like it will be seriously good. I don't know what their pricing will be but if it's under $50 a month I bet there'll be plenty of takers.

It better do my task for me for that price. LOL

I have to say I'm feeling a little Benedict Arnold-ish for having started a thread announcing a possible competitor. But us GTD users can't help but have a look around. I just wanted to say that I appreciate the tolerant attitude of the Nirvana staff of all the discussion of competing services on these forums.

And above all else, I've yet to find any service that bests the might Nirvana in terms of GTD adherence, ease of use, and user interface. Once they get those mobile apps out, I think I'll be in GTD love until death do us part.

Yes, I know it is only a todo list, and I think Wunderkit will be absolutely over the top to my taste. I like tasks that are easy to classify, and that is why I prefer software that solves simple problems not tries to solve a bunch of them. Evernote is too much, Wunderkit will be way too much. If I wanted a scrum manager or repository tool or other type of project collaboration tool, I'd already have it (I have the 2 last parts already).

Just tripped over a Nirvana clone today, looks just like Things and Nirvana. But it's developed in the People's Republic of China. Won't post the link here by courtesy to Nirvana, but although very smoothly made it had some major ergonomic problems which would make me prefer Nirvana. There are also more political aspect of things. I prefer my tasks in the Canadian cloud than in the Polit Bureau's cloud... What if China just cuts off Internet alltogether, or supervises my data?

    Hmmm...obviously I meant $50 a year not month. LOL.

But seriously, lacking or not, I think one of the majore strengths of apps like Wunderlist and aforementioned Chinese competitor is that they roll out frequent updates which gives users confidence that they even if the app isn't perfect, there is every likelihood it will be a few months down the line.

Asana? I created an account and took a quick look. It seems to have a lot of collaborative features and an awful lot of "features", but I noticed it does not seem to have recurring tasks or an "All Areas" view, which makes it a bit difficult to use, so I stopped looking any deeper. The All Areas problem you can probably work your way around by using Tags and having only one Area, but the absence of recurring tasks is hard to live with ... but I saw in the forum that it has been requested by many and that they are looking at it, so maybe one day... The good thing is that it is completely free until you invite more than 30 people to collaborate.

    Chris,

I created a post about this and will delete it now.

My comment was that Wunderkit is expected to be a huge success in this space when you invest $4.2 MILLION dollars on the project. This is not their only funding, but just funding from one source.

    Wow.

I posted on here earlier but I can only assume my post wasn't approved for some reason so that's why it hasn't appeared. I just wondered whether the funding would mean that Wunderkit might be offered for free. I've used Wunderlist and while it's functions are limited, they are implemented very well. Updates are regular and often so the software continues to improve. It doesn't hurt that it looks great as well. I think Wunderkit is destined to be a big hit, free or not.

@ Proximo - agreed. I suppose the investment is for the whole company (Wunderkinder) as opposed to being allocated to Wunderkit alone, but nonetheless that is some serious mulah!

@Proximo / AJS / Everyone else - let's remember money alone does not buy happiness / inner peace / the market-leading GTD app / Nirvana..........

    I don't agree.

    Money buys a Jet Ski....

I never seen anyone on a Jet Sky with a frown on their face.

@Proximo - oddly enough I HAVE once seen someone on a jet ski looking less than happy......although they weren't strictly ON the jet ski - more being dragged through the water behind it with their lifejacket wedged around their neck, which might have had something to do with it!

Could have been me, I knocked out two teeth on a Jetski doing exactly that. I'd given up trying to stand up on it and thought I'd go for the being dragged through the water approach before my hire time ran out.

It was kind of a whiplash effect when the water jet hit me in the groin :-/

Today I got invite to the new Wunder product.

It is pretty neat collaboration tool, but it has nothing to do with GTD. Its all about a lot of bells & whistles, but with little functionality.

It's also going after the basecamp crowd - so it is more than just a task manager. I got my inviote to play with the beta this morning. Will check it out.

Good news - more fun toys
Bad news - still lots of sh*t to do, so no time

If someone here would like to do my work for me today, I would be happy to check out Wunderkit ASAP. :)

I agree with Ryan - Wunderkit is geared towards collaborative tasks, so is more like Basecamp than Nirvana or Things.

As a personal task manager, it's bloated with redundant social features like a dashboard, status updates, liking and commenting.

This makes for a terribly cluttered experience. (Never thought I'd say this about a product from the guys who made the terrific Wunderlist)
