I wanted to start this discussion here because there are so many smart and friendly people to get ideas and thoughts from.

I have a brand new office that was just built and will be ready for me to move into in 2 weeks while I wait for my new office furniture. This is my work office and I wanted to make some changes when moving from my old office.

Minimalism is the idea of having things clutter free and it can create a more productive environment, so it fits on this forum.

My current office is organized and not bad. Many of you have seen my GTD Office pictures on Flickr. I want to try an experiment and make my new Office as Minimal as possible. I have ideas on how I will set it up and what I want to have and not have, but wanted to get some feedback from the Nirvana community on this.

My goal is to get rid of the following items from my old office.

  1. Printer/Fax/Scanner
  2. Stapler
  3. Hole Punch
  4. Desk Organizer
  5. Pens (Have only one great pen)
  6. Paper in General
  7. Paper Clips
  8. Old books
  9. Magazines
  10. Pictures on the walls
  11. Awards

Basically everything that is not contributing to doing my actual job. This new office will be like the questioning room in the Matrix, with lots of light and very little clutter.

What are your thoughts and ideas on the Minimalistic Office?
