iOS 5: Can't login to Nirvana with Safari
Since I updated to iOS 5 yesterday I can't login to Nirvana's
mobile app via Safari. I can open the login page and enter my
username and my password. But nothing happens when I tap on the
Login button (the button shows no reaction, as if I hadn't touched
it). I can login with the Atomic Web Browser though, so I'm
guessing it's a bug caused by Safari.
I've cleared cache, restarted the device... nothing helps.

Interesting - I suppose it could be a change in Safari, or maybe some new defaults that are causing a problem in the new version of Safari, or possibly the upgrade could have mucked up the local storage (assuming it wasn't cleared out as part of the upgrade).
I don't have iOS 5 at this point, but I can suggest that you might want to clear the local data store (different from the browser cache) for Nirvana in Safari. I can't give you an exact walk-through without a device to try it, but...
From an article on iOS 5 I've read, you would go to the Advanced section and can see the websites that have stored data locally. If you see an entry for Nirvana, delete that - then try logging in again.
I'm not sure if your upgrade would have left the old local storage in place or not - but if it did I could see where that might theoretically cause an issue. A bit of a long-shot, but worth a try.
Let me know.
Thanks,
David

Just wanted to confirm that Lasse is correct and the mobile Nirvana site does not work on iOS 5 Safari browser.
Since it was Lasse claiming this, I had to check for myself. :-)

Don't tap on the Login button. Tap on "ok" botton (or "go" botton). It's works.

@raul - thanks for that feedback !
@Proximo - er, right :-)
@All - strange, but we'll take a look to see what changed in iOS 5 to cause that behavior.

@Proximo, right, always double-check what a psychotherapist says. After all, just because I say you're paranoid doesn't mean others aren't out to get you! :-)
@raul, thanks for the hint. I still find Nirvana to be a bit buggy on Safari though.
@Proximo, you might want to check that, too. :-)

Oh, and @David, I deleted the entry for Nirvana but that didn't help.

@Lasse - I dated a psycotherapist once for a few months.
I came to the conclusion that her interest in the profession came from a desire to study her own aberrant behavior -- a scenario others have told me is not uncommon :-)

@David, yes, I'm afraid that's true. :-) Of course I'm an exception! I'm more interested in the aberrant behavior of web-based GTD solutions. :-)

hah - there's a life-time topic of study !

I did a little testing with this this morning, here are the results:
All buttons work fine if I don't scroll down the page.
As soon as I do scroll down at all, all buttons stop working.
Buttons start working again if I scroll all the way back to the top (address bar fully showing)
Hope it's useful

@tropic, great observation! I just tried that with the Login button and once I scroll all the way to the top it works again. The problem with this bug ist that I can't open tasks at the bottom of my list and I can't log out either. That's why I'm using the Mercury browser for now. On a side note, the App Store has been pretty buggy since updating to iOS 5, too. Sometimes buttons just don't react and I can't check out, buy or update apps. Hmm...

Well, since we didn't make any app changes during this timeframe, it's not something we did to Nirvana ;-) -- and it's interesting that there are problems with the Apple app store.
And I went out to the net and did a bit of searching on problems with the iOS 5 release -- and there seems to be a bunch. A lot of focus is on the problems getting a download because of the heavy demand -- but there's also a fair amount of complaints about -- everything from Skype not ringing when running in the background, to general complaints that apps that worked fine on iOS4 being broken on iOS5.
One thing that may be contributing to this is that apparently in iOS5 Apple has changed how it treats things in Caches and tmp (they are force cleaned when the device is 'low' on space) which leaves apps with no area that can store data that's not to be backed-up but not randomly deleted.
Other strange operational issues have been reported; both native apps and issues with Safari.
Others have no issues anywhere - bizarre. I have to believe fixes will come out soon -- wouldn't want the iOS5 release to be worse than the WinPhone 7 update early this year (not the last one which seems to have gone fairly wel).
cheers,

Just wanted to mention that - contrary to my initial imperssion - neither the Atomic Web browser nor the Mercury browser as such work any better than Safari. When I first tried them, I hadn't scrolled down before opening and changing tasks. However, if you set the Atomic Web browser to be identified as "Safari Desktop" and turn the iPhone to view Nirvana in Landscape mode, you can access your tasks. It's obviously not how one would want to use Nirvana on the iPhone but at least it's a workaround until the underlying issues are fixed. And since I mostly used Nirvana mobile for taking a look at my todo list anyway, I can live with it for a while.

thanks for the update. I'll pass it on the mobile guy.
I think they ran into the "law of unintended consequences" and damaged their "It just works" tag line (IMO).
cheers,
David

Build 326, but still can't log in nirvana2 using safari on iPad1 with ios5 :-(
Am I the only one?

More info.
Using the debugging console of Safari I get this error:
JavaScript: Error in line 539
Error: QUOTA_EXCEEDED_ERR: DOM Exception 22
Actually the error repeats continously (8.500 errors and growing...)

@Juan - I suspect one of 2 things based on that message you gave me.
1) You are using Private Browsing mode
2) your local storage got corrupted at some point
If the first turn off private browsing and see how it works.
If the second, reset your local storage and let me know what happens -- use:
https://app.nirvanahq.com/reset
I would suggest that you open a discussion in private support for more help, if neither of those options work.
David

@David
Private browsing was the problem. I didn't realize it was on. Turned it off and it works OK now.
Thanks a lot,
Juan.

I am able to login to Nirvana on my iPad 2 with iOS 5. However if i start to drill down to tasks in a project them the tasks are displayed very blury and i cannot read them.
Anyone else experiencing the same behaviour on their iPad (IOS 5)
Support Staff 21 Posted by David McLaughlin on 27 Oct, 2011 12:16 PM
@Juan - no problem.
@robmutsaars - please follow this post so we keep things topic related in one place http://help.nirvanahq.com/discussions/nirvana-mobile/103-mobile-app...
as a general answer -- this is not a NIrvana specific issue, the problem is something that changed in iOS5 that has affected a number of applications.
Thanks,
David
