Question about eventual iPad app

I realize the iPhone app isn't even out yet, and that seems to be your guys' first priority. However, I just want to register my desire for the iPad app and then ask a quick question about its development.

I would really love an iPad app because my iPad is my go to device on the weekends. It would be great to be able to fire it up with a cup of coffee on a Saturday morning to see all the Home context things that I need to get accomplished that day.

I do not know anything about development, but it seems that developing the iPad app should go pretty quick once the iPhone app is out, right? It seems that you could use a lot of the code from the iPhone app for the syncing and backend stuff. It seems like you would only really need to write a new user interface for the larger screen (though not a trivial task).

I second this! As an avid iPad user, this would be great.

I am sure the iPad app will follow the iPhone app rather quickly. I have an iPhone 4S but I am holding out for the iPad 3. I would be looking forward to the iPad app as well.

Once Nirvana creates the mobile versions for iOS, I would imagine the Android versions will be close behind.

iPad 3? Wow, are you patient. I have an iPad 2 and am quite happy with it. I upgraded to the latest iOS and it works beautifully with my new iPhone 4S. :)

David - out of interest how does your experience of iOS gadgetry compare to your previous experience with Android (I think I'm right in remembering that you used to use Android aren't I?)

Yes, I used to use Android. I switched over to an iPhone 4S and iPad 2. I am very happy with the change!

    @david-drake,

The iPad 3 should be announced sometime next month or shortly after. My wife has an iPad 2 and loves it. You are not the only person that has come from the wild wild west called Android, over to the civilized iOS world. lol

Android to me is too confusing, unpredictable, out of control, lack's quality control, gives you different experiences across platforms and lacks the polish of iOS. Just my opinion, but I though I would share it.

Back to the iPad app. I am not an iOS developer but I would imagine that creating the iPad version should be simple once you have the iPhone version finished. I would expect a different UI for each platform because the screen sizes cater to different UI's.

@Phil - I can't give you a timeline, although I suspect you are right (most of the same back-end code, but a fair amount of UI work) -- I'm not a mobile guy so that's strictly a guess based on my sense of the way it should be. But sometimes my sense of should be doesn't match reality - go figure.

I guess you could just have a little iPod sized screen in the middle of the iPad in the meantime :-)

Thanks for the replies everyone and David. I'm sure the miniaturized Nirvana app on the iPad will suit my needs in the interim.

    Good day, all.

We can always use the 2X zoom option to make it take up the entire screen. That would look ugly but it can tie us over until the iPad app is made. :-)

An iPad app will be critical for me. I have the 2012 iPad and am addicted to it.

While waiting for an app I thought I'd kust log in to N2 on Safari on my iPad. But every time I have tried, the screen freezes on the "Logging In" screen. I have not had Safari freeze on any other site or access attempt.

    Any suggestions/solutions?

    Thanks.

@Mapjr - I'm going to copy/paste this to new support system - there have been a few cases where Safari has had login problem - and I'm not sure if it's Safari or iOS5.1 -- I'll let the mobile guys figure that one
