New Mobile app
I normally don't use the mobile site on the iPhone because, quite frankly, I don't like it.
I happened to check it just now though and was quite surprised to find it's been improved. Did I miss an announcement?
I don't have time to play around right now, but it's nice to see added functionality.

@roddyt
There were actually two blog posts on this update (if you are refering to the 2.0 mobile update). They can both be found here: http://blog.nirvanahq.com/page/2

Thanks Elurven, but that looks like the initial announcement from mid-March.
The improvement I'm seeing must be from within the last week or so.

@roddyt
Oh, sorry, I see that now as well, very slick indeed :-).

I know something just changed because I have been using the new mobile location since March.
This new change just took over my mobile app this morning because I was using it last night with the old format.
I did not change anything on my end and my mobile app is pointing to the same location as always. It looks completely different than it did last night.

This is new.
My mobile app has been pointing to the same new mobile url for as long as I can remember.
They did make improvements back in March but that was a different version. I use the mobile app several times a day and just last night I was using it.
This new change just happened.
We now can filter by tags, move to other list easier, sort easier, etc. Still checking out the new mobile app.

Wow,
This is a much improved mobile app. I can now get in and out of Projects easier, I love the ability to filter by tags which makes the Today list and Next list more useful on the go.
I am going to show a screen shot of this to make sure everyone understands that this is a new version of Nirvana mobile.

Elbert was sneaky and snuck out a release of mobile www v3 last night.
No official announcement was made just yet... will be doing so this
week.
You guys are quick!
:)

BTW... mad props goes to the first user who notices Areas of Focus in the web app.
We have launched it, but quietly. Clue... "look up, look way up!" to start setting up your areas.
We just wanted a day with it live on the server.

I found it! And so far I like it.
Is the drop-down to the right of the task the only place to change Areas? I can see where a global update would help here.
Does a new task automatically go into the Area currently selected? I don't see an Area assignment in the New Task screen.

Anything for people who can't find it? :-0 (still looking. . .)
Update: I had to refresh to see the new build. . .
Mobile: The new "double arrow" icon, for moving tasks up and down--shouldn't that have up-and-down arrows instead of side-to-side?
Support Staff 12 Posted by Christiane Magee on 12 May, 2010 05:24 PM
@roddyt... you win!
@terminado... you can find Areas in the webapp first (check near "Account Settings"). Once you activate them there, you'll then see them in the mobile version.
you mean the criss-crossing arrows? hmmmm... they do evoke switching places vertically. We'll discuss internally :)

hint hint

oh, and yes - the mobile app still needs some spit and polish vis-a-vis areas (and also the ability to move projects around... lacking). when in doubt, refresh!

Wow this is really nice, looks like an iPhone app!

I like this a lot! I discovered the ability to filter by tags on the mobile site this morning, which I thought was the one biggest improvement that makes the mobile version useful for me, but now I see Areas of Responsibility added. Good job!

This is slick! Thanks.

If I could only move many task at once.
I would love to filter by "work" context on my Next list and tell them ALL to move to the "Work" AoR.
THEN....
I would love to switch to my Work AoR and remove the "work" tag from ALL task at the same time.
:-(
Still happy but just realized how much work this is going to be. :-)

@proximo - I know, the initial "migration" to AoR is a pain. We looked at ways to make this easier, but we didn't want to wait any longer and just decided to push this live in the state that it was in. Once we get multi-select implemented this won't be an issue (for future users that is!)

If you have an iPhone you can open the mobile app in the browser and then click the "+" icon (located at the bottom of the bowser) and select "Add to home screen" this will create a Nirvana icon on your home page! give it a try.

Awesome! Looks great!!

@Elbert & Christiane: Great work! LOVE the new mobile version. Thanks a lot!
@Proximo: Would you consider posting an update on how you plan on using AoR? As our local GTD-hero I would love your input before I attempt anything only half-decent myself.
@pcartier: You should also check out this tip by Proximo. The equivalent of adding a program to your home screen - just on Windows: http://help.nirvanahq.com/discussions/gtd/8-running-nirvana-as-an-a...

The new mobile app is heads and tails better than the previous version. It's really shaping up nicely. Much faster, too.
Yay!

Can you drag things in the iPhone web version? I'm not able to, wasn't sure if i was missing something.
Support Staff 25 Posted by Elbert McLaughlin on 20 May, 2010 01:31 PM
@rfo - we're hoping to have a solution for drag/sorting in the web-app that feels more "native" ... but we haven't quite figured out how to do it (yet). we're using the jqtouch (www.jqtouch.com) library, and drag sorting is not a built in feature. david kaneda, the developer behind jqtouch has been working on drag zones as he ramps up for ipad support, and we're hoping that the work he does there will translate back to the iphone and allow us to add this missing bit of UI magic. for now, when you click the dual arrow (shuffle) icon in a list view, you'll see up and down arrows, which must be clicked to bump items up/down. it's a temporary workaround while we figure out how to do things "properly." :-)
26 Posted by rfo on 12 Jun, 2010 12:47 PM
It would be really, really great to have a Bump To The Top arrow (either a double arrow or an Arrow with a cross line at the top like a T). Often tasks are added to Today and they show at the bottom and need to be shot to the top.
Thanks,
rob.

hi Rob... thanks for the suggestion. Post-next web app release we'll no doubt be making some updates to the mobile version.

@Elbert - I found this today: http://www.9to5mac.com/touchy_feely_html5 , which looks like it might be of help with achieving your goals with the mobile version. Cheers, Ken.
