The main page of Nirvana Mobile
I know we are far off from a native Smart Phone app, but wanted to share an idea for the Main Page.
When I launch Nirvana Mobile. I want to do one of two things. Manage my list or capture a thought.
I would love to see the Main Page in Nirvana have two HUGE buttons. Capture and Manage.
When you select Capture, it gives you a quick way to dump your thoughts directly to your inbox. For those who want to add more details at that time, there could be a details button that will give you the fields to choose from. The important thing is that the default Capture method is very quick and easy to use. This would make the Nirvana app a fantastic capture tool that does not get in the way.
When you select the Manage button, you are treated to the main Nirvana mobile page that is a mini version of the site.
When I say two HUGE buttons, I mean two HUGE and easy to read buttons. :-)
It would also be a good idea to have an option that would allow the app to default to either section. If a user captures 90% of the time when opening the app, it would automatically launch in that mode. If a user manages their list 90% of the time, it could automatically open into that mode as well.
Simple idea, but I have not see a single GTD based app do this yet.
Just a thought.

I agree capture and manage are important but I'm not sure about this implementation.
For me the classic 'dashboard' main page is equally important as collection and manage - I want to instantly see the totals for each folder, due and overdue in red etc, it gives me an overview I want each time I open the app.
I agree capture is important and I'd want to add to inbox without any clicks first - i.e. an inbox capture area on the main also......I think a well designed main page could accomodate both dashboard and capture?

@Kenny,
On my post I mentioned that the main page could be user defined. So you have 3 options.
Standard = Two Huge Buttons for Capture and Manage
Capture = Goes directly into capture mode
Manage = Goes directly into the main app dashboard as you call it.

Sounds good Proximo, would give the best of both/all worlds.
My preference would be for the Capture and Manage options to be combined so you don't have to choose - you have them both on the screen at the same time i.e. all your Manage details plus a plain input box at the top of the form that you can quickly enter in to the inbox.

@kenny.grant.
The reason I like a HUGE Capture button is because I capture most of my ideas while driving my car. LOL
Just kidding.
I use "One Tap Mail" to capture things quickly and I use Dragon Dictation to capture my ideas while driving. Dragon Dictation does Voice to text capture and I send it directly to my Nirvana inbox.
Actually, having voice to text as a capture option would be fantastic. I can get rid of two apps.

ha ha yes driving seems to be the most creative time!
I use Dial2do for the same thing - I prefer it to Dragon as I don't have to focus on my iphone to press the 'send' button on the email.

I need to check out Dial2do again. I used it in the past but I think I was too cheap to buy the full version. :-)
I don't have much money left thanks to Lasse, with all the apps he makes me buy for the iPhone. I need therapy and I think he is setting me up to meet him.
