Nirvana is slow
Hi.. Nirvana is running really slow for me right now. It's fine when I first open it up, but within just a few minutes navigation commands (say moving to n.a. from projects) take 5-10 s to complete. I'm using chrome 12.0.742 on ubuntu Lucid Lynx.

I'm experiencing the same issue (with the latest version of Chrome on Windows Server 2008). Logging off and then logging on again seems to speed up the app, at least for a while.
Maybe it has something to do with a large logbook, or maybe the fact that I am shuffling a lot of things around, things that are cached locally?

Empty your logbook and trash. Make a complete refresh (CTRL-F5). Nirvana will run like a charm.
I hope the Nirvana team either optimizes this or lets us disable the logbook.

Thanks for the suggestion, Dafyren. I emptied the trash but I'm not sure how to empty the logbook. Do I need to move each individual item to trash? (Hope not...)

That is what I did (emptied it individually). It took me 30-40 minutes, but for me Nirvana was so slow that it was worth it.
I did it by using the search bar so I don't have to load the whole logbook when I empty it. So type some random common words in the search bar, and quickly drag the completed items from the search results to the trash.
Now I just make sure that whenever I complete a project, I just move it to trash so once the logbook is empty, there are no problems.
The best thing about this is that I can now FINALLY USE THE MOBILE VERSION :) it is really fast actually

@John
You can lasso a group of tasks at a time to drag them from the logbook to the trash and then empty the trash - there is a known issue about the logbook still showing the dragged items until the trash is emptied, so don't let that confuse you (like it does me :-)

Had the same problem over the weekend, even after purging log entries and trash. Tried other computers connecting with Chrome and the problem persisted. I downloaded the newest version of Firefox and it worked fine.

Now that's a bit bazarre.
I personally tend to use FF as my primary browser, but use Chrome & IE in testing without an appreciable difference in performance.
I know Elbert tends to use Chrome as his primary and hasn't reported any performance issues with N2.
We'll keep an eye on it though.
Can I assume that you were using a production build of Chrome, and not beta/dev channel versions?

Thanks for all the help guys. Unfortunately it took me considerably longer than 40 minutes to clear the log, but I didn't know that I could do many at once and it took me an embarrassingly long time to divine that even though the logbook was showing the items as still being in the logbook that I had indeed moved them to trash and could eliminate them by emptying the trash and refreshing.
Anyway, it is running better, but still doesn't feel snappy. I do have a lot of projects and NAs. David, is this something that might improve when you guys go official?

@John
There will improvements on an on-going basis, but 'snappy' is going to depend on a number of factors unique to your setup; including what browser you use, machine memory/speed, etc.

Hi there,
a comment on this. I also experience this speed issue. Clearing the log/trash helped a little, but not much. Refreshing helps, but only for a few transactions. I'm using the latest version of chrome on windows XP SP3.
What I did notice is that N1 is significantly faster, and doesn't seem to slow as much. I haven't done serious testing, so that might be anecdotal, but something worth noting.
