(Bug Report) Chrome Supported Version
When I log into Nirvana I'm prompted with the warning that I'm not using a supported browser. I checked my Chrome version and it was version: 6.0.401.1 dev. I then downloaded and installed the latest version which brought me to version: 6.0.401.1
This time the word "dev" was removed from the end of the version number.
I then re-login to Nirvana and I still get prompted with the same message.

I would not use the Dev. version of Chrome. The version that I am running is considered Beta but still works.
Look at my screenshot.

Hi
v6.x is still a dev release. The last stable release is v4.x
http://googlechromereleases.blogspot.com/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Chrome
Now... if you had v4.x and click to upgrade, Google upgrades you to
the latest release number regardless of it's state, it doesn't upgrade
you to the latest stable release.

I was upgraded to v5.x without my knowledge. It has a beta tag on it but it works perfectly with Nirvana.
The dev. versions (6.x) obviously have some issues with Nirvana and should not be used.

Well then it makes sense to use the latest stable version rather than fighting the upgrade process to switch back from 6.x to 5.x
Is Nirvana working on supporting the latest version of the Chrome browser regardless if it's considered beta?
Again, once I updated it the "dev" went away and it doesn't say "beta" so to me that makes the version I use the latest stable version...if you looked at it from a common sense perspective...lol :-)

Ok, just downloaded and installed the most recent up-to-date stable version of Chrome from their website and it works just fine.
For those that like using the stable version that's available when you go to Google Chrome's website...the version/build number is: 4.1.249.1064 (45376).

An update worth letting you know about.
Google's auto update feature is set to run silently by default, so it updated my Chrome browser to the latest version which they consider it to be 6.x but as I've said before this is misleading because it's a beta version. Once again when I logged into Nirvana it prompted me saying that I'm using an unsupported browser.
The latest stable version is the one I noted in my previous post, so I did some research and found out how to disable the auto updater for Chrome, so I can update it when I'm ready and when it's compatible with Nirvana :-)
Just go to the Scheduled Task applet within the Control Panel in either XP/Vista/Windows 7 and disable both tasks that are put in automatically by Google during Chrome's install.
If you're having a hard time finding this let me know and I will create an instructional video showing you how to do this on Windows 7 since that's what my OS is. It's generally the same in XP but obviously the GUI and icons, etc. would be different but it's within the Control Panel area of Windows.

The wierd thing is that Chrome updated itself on my end to the 5.x
version which is also beta but works with Nirvana.
Not sure why yours went to 6.
At home my Chrome is still at 4.x
How the updates happen is still a mystery to me.

Here is another weird one. At work, my Chrome is at 4.x version and when I go into the About Chrome section it updates automatically but it stays at version 4.x and tells me that it's the latest version.
At home, if I try that it updates me to the 6.x version. So, I disabled it at home but I'm still keeping it enabled at work to see if it eventually updates it...I'll find out some time next week when I continue to monitor this.
I found an article or 2 online that discusses how the Google Updater works and in the Chromium Blog there is info as well as on Google Help section for Chrome.

What can we say...Chrome is the mystery browser that updates itself to random versions in different scenarios :-)

A-Cast... to answer a previous question you had
Not at this time, as we'd be fixing bugs for a browser that might have bugs. Not worth the development time to support something that isn't fully stable.

Christiane - Yes that makes perfect sense...I don't use beta browsers anyway...I always like having the latest stable supported version of whatever browser I'm using since my job revolves around using the browser so much.
Thanks!
