Infrequent contacts

Hi,

I've been with Nirvana since January, but never quiet had the time to do the full move to do all my project tracking in nirvana. Now my schedules are getting a bit lighter and I feel like I can give it a try. I'm really glad to see that you have taken a huge leap and improved the app alot since the last time I gave it a serious try. Congratulations and thanks are in order.

Anyway, the point of the this post is to make a suggestion regarding contacts.
I'm trying to use Nirvana to keep track of some personal tasks/projects, like planning a vacation or getting my car's bumper fixed after a small accident. For those projects I may have to wait for another party to get back to me, but those people aren't "contacts" in the sense that I want to save them in my adress book after that particular task/project is done. For example, I may need to get the insurance information from the guy that bumped into my car, but once my car is fixed I really don't plan on dealing with him anymore. Similarly, I might ask multiple travel agencies for quotes on a particular destination, but I don't want to do that frequently in the future.
If I add these people as contacts via the "Waiting for" option, they will be added to my Nirvana Contacts and in the long run the list will become longer and longer and filled with useless contacts. It would be nice if for such cases I could make contacts temporary, so that they are removed after the project is deleted or not added to the Contacts list at all if a checkbox is ticked or there is no email/phone etc. attached to them.

tl;dr; I'd don't want one-time contacts to clutter up my contacts list.

    Hi CJ,

These changes have been noted by the devs and should be forthcoming. In the mean time, I use "Waiting" as the contact for these temporary (or non-existent) contacts.

This is my problem too: cluttered, bloated contacts list

Hi CJ... you describe an interesting case. We'll take this into consideration once we tackle the next version of the Contacts feature. thanks - C

This is definitely in the queue to be addressed. Along with "infrequent tags" -- or perhaps the corollary: "favourite tags."

Contacts and Tags are related in my mind in that I would like to be able to assign contacts (plural) to certain tasks, and they may not be because I'm "waiting for" anything, but just because it's nice, especially in team projects, to be able to "assign" one or more people to a task/project. Then we could just click on "john" and see the subset of tasks, even if some of those also involve "jane."

But I digress. My point is that I agree with you -- managing contacts is very weak at the moment. We want to fix it right.

+1 on the fact that many of my waiting for's are infrequent contacts that i don't want stored.

Thanks for the idea of using a dummy name "Waiting", good idea temporarily.

+1 on associating tasks with people - that's often how I think about my tasks...I identify some tasks by the people involved, that is.
