Navi isn't intuitive for me

I keep stumbling trying to navigate around in my projects. Personally, once I"ve created a project, I rarely edit the top-line data - most of the work is in the tasks. But I start by moving my projects around after clicking on the "Projects" item in the left-hand navi, and when I then want to drill down into a projects tasks, my instinct is to click the project in the main window, but that pulls up the edit window for the project title. Personally, I would much rather that option be relegated to an "Edit" button, and to have any clicks on the link in the project name take me inside the project's tasks.

As a follow up to this:

I realize that I can click the "X items" button in order to access a project's tasks; I'm just saying that personally this was not intuitive.

I should also add: I think you guys have done an amazing job. I think I've added the last like five or six comments, and I'm not meaning it to come off as nitpicking - I just want to give my own two cents in the hope of making a good app into one that's damn-near perfect. Still, the more i use this, the more satisfied I become with it. Thank you very much for creating this.

I agree. This has happened to me several times and it's confusing.

    Hello Zach & Proximo...

First... Zach, no worries about feeling as though you are nitpicking. We need to hear as much user feedback as possible, so do not hesitate to submit your comments/suggestions.

That said, this has happened to me as well and we are looking into improving some UX elements. I have made note of this post for our dev team so stay tuned.

thanks again for all your feedback

No, thank you. The more I get used to Nirvana, the better I like it and work with it. Even more, I really appreciate how responsive you guys are: I'm glad to voice my opinion if I feel it's being heard.

Even if you change the wording on the "X Items" button to "X Tasks" I think it would become clearer.

(In that vein, if I may vote on "What's Next", please add me as a +1 to the "Email to Inbox" feature that I know you're already working on. As a New Yorker, I do a lot of thinking about my projects on the subway, and come up with a bunch of things I want to Collect. I used to think that a smartphone app was the best solution, but I know how time consuming building one is - not to mention I'm on Android. But after using Nirvana more, i realize I don't really need an app. The stuff I'm thinking about on the train isn't processed, so it just needs to be collected. When I can write an email to my Nirvana account on my phone that will be automatically sent once I get above ground, then I will really be able to get it out of my head, instead of spending my commute home writing reminders for myself.)

Again, thanks for the best GTD system I've ever seen...

Zach... your +1 vote has been added for Email to Inbox poll. I too believe this is a must have as does the dev team.

You bring up an interesting point about app/no app for the smartphone - makes me wonder how many Nirvana users will be "task collectors" while on the go vs "task managers". I smell a poll brewing...

thanks again for all your feedback - constructive and complimentary!

    Zach,

Don't think that was an appropriate post.

Nirvana can make an iPhone and/or Android version if they choose. The iPhone user base is much larger so it would probably make sense to develop for it first, but this is up to Nirvana. This is not an iPhone vs. Android discussion at all.

When Nirvana makes it's API available, third-party developers will be free to create apps for iPhone, Android, webOS, winMob, whatever. Hopefully this will happen soon, and hopefully before Nirvana commits resources to developing their own iPhone or Android or whatever app.

I really resonate with the idea of being able to email into Nirvana as being more important than a fully features mobile app. I have used the current mobile web app a little, but mostly as a list - grocery shopping or errands or the like. But collecting items in my inbox, I do all the time. And email is much quicker for me than opening a web app that is at the mercy of my network connection.

    @Zack,

Now you made me laugh. :-)

I am sure when the API is available, we will have Nirvana running on all platforms. I am interested on Windows Phone 7 now. Looks like a great OS.
