Whats with the icons going downhill?

One of the selling points of nirvana for me was CRISP 2.0 interface that looks great. It is VERY important.
Take a look at Thinking Rock: great software, HORRIBLE UI. I have tried to use it and it was like "welcome back to 1989!"

Recently I have noticed a drop in icons quality:

first the waiting for: it feels a little out of place, I would rather have something else, but it can do

Scheduled - low res, UGLY icon. Same goes for "scheduled for" and due date in task edit window
"New Task" - seriously? This is a low res PENCIL made or cut out in paintbrush. This unacceptable. It makes baby panda cry.

the new build screenshots feature even more ugly icons :X like some cellphone thingy.

Please pay attention to such details - no more ugly icons

I stop looking so closely to this but I would have to agree. Nirvana was initially attractive to me because of the beautiful UI. Heck, even the Blog has great color and font style to it.

I go so PRODUCTIVE with Nirvana that I stop noticing the small details that you mentioned.

+1 on keeping the UI beautiful.

Let's be honest. Being productive is the most important thing, but if I can do that while looking at something beautiful, it makes the day that much better. This is why I have a mirror in front of my desk. Just kidding :-)

I also used Thinking Rock for a while and the UI was the worst ever. Nice functionality, but UGLY UI.

Hmmm.... I think I sort of understand what Marcin is saying... but then again we haven't changed any icons since day one. Always been the same set from the icon set: http://www.famfamfam.com/lab/icons/silk/

I think it's just that as the icons are now sometimes on darker backgrounds, this is what makes things look amiss to some?

Anyway, once we start getting some revenue perhaps we'll invest in creating our own icon set. It ain't cheap to do it right, so this would be a bit of a hit.

take "smart list" icon for example: ugly, ugly icon and it is totally out of place meaning: it doesn't fit at all into nirvanas UI

Hi Marcin... SmartLists are accessible to very few people and was never full launched, so you'll have to forgive us for not choosing the most meaningful icon for that!

I did check some of the icon images and some may be scaling beyond the 16x16 actual image size. I have opened up a bug report to remedy the fuzziness. The icons are crisp.

    thx!

Don't get us wrong. Nirvana is still one of the best UI's I have used for GTD or many other applications for that matter.

I run Nirvana with the default white background and it looks very nice. It does seem that some icons look different somehow but it's minor at this point.

Nah... don't worry about it Marcin. I didn't take your post as being rude, and, like you say, it is for the greater good. Have a good weekend!
