Cannot drag and reorder tasks or projects

I see in the introductory video that one should be able to drag and reorder tasks and projects easily. However, I do not see in the current setup how to do that at all. The "handle" to grab and reorder is missing for me. I am using Internet Explorer 8.

Help!

Thanks,
-David

    Hi Folks,

I certainly hope this is addressed very soon. When I try to grab and drag a task or project, weird things happen, like a block of tasks or projects moving down the page. So...dragging and reordering at the moment is completely broken.

Any idea of when this might be addressed?

    Thanks!

Support for Internet Explorer is shoddy at best for now. The next major release (a few weeks out) should address most of the short comings in IE8.

In the mean time, might we suggest using the Google Chrome browser: http://www.google.com/chrome ... it is significantly more powerful than Internet Explorer, and Nirvana is optimized for it.

I don't understand about Internet Explorer 8. You state in the information provided that it is a browser you support. And now you are saying switch to a different browser? Granted, there are bugs, but Internet Explorer 8 is used by many people in offices where they are not allowed to install other browsers. This is really disappointing.

The latest version of Google Chrome is version 6. I think I also read you do not support that. SO one is supposed to use an older version? Why?

Not supporting all browsers, or having incomplete features or bugs, are things one is allowed to do during a beta :)

Ah yes... we need to update the login notice to accept Chrome 6, now that it's official.

Nirvana is in Beta folks. I understand that a web application should support all major browsers, but resources are limited when your in beta mode.

As a side note, I am running Nirvana on Chrome 6 and the only thing I noticed is a slow down in speed. I don't like this at all, but at least everything else seems to be working OK. The funny thing is that Chrome 6 is about 15% faster than the previous version. Hope to see Nirvana optimized for Chrome 6 soon.

    :-)

If you're in a situation where IE is still required (some parts of corporate america), you can also explore installing the Google Chrome Frame from google.com which will let you run Chrome within Internet Explorer 6/7/8.

Just some more options for the people who need 'em. :)

@Jakob - have you tried this? I have to use ie8 at work and have google frame addin installed but I still can't reorder subtasks.

AFAIK website must have a tag to tell the chrome frame to kick in - can anyone confirm if Nirvana are doing this?

@kenny: I was able to get it to work by doing using the gcf: prefix as part of Chromium.

    http://www.chromium.org/developers/how-tos/chrome-frame-getting-sta...

    Excerpt:
To make your pages work with GCF, you should use the method of inserting a meta tag, as described earlier. There are other ways of invoking GCF. These techniques are useful for testing but are turned off by default. GCF provides a fast testing and prototyping shortcut that's especially useful when you can't modify the page you want to test. To use this method, just navigate to the URL prepended with "gcf:". Note that this prefix is in addition to any other URL scheme. For example, to see Gmail in GCF, go to Internet Explorer and navigate to:

    gcf:http://gmail.com

There are also some registry settings, but most people whoa re in a corporate environment can't go mucking about there. I've found the address of

    gcf:https://www.nirvanahq.com/app

to work really well, especially since the whole thing is via AJAX.

wow - thanks all for the tips re: chrome frame. will definitely add the google chrome frame meta tags to automatically invoke in the next nirvana release. had no idea this could be done.

Thanks jakob, I tried gcf: but I get the old 'internet explorer cannot display the web page' - I get this when I try gcf: in front of gmil too.....but I have gcf installed correctly as gcf:about:version works.

Must be an anomoly with my setup........I look forward to the meta tags being added to the main site, any time frame on this?
