Converted from DoIT software - "Tomorrow" field

They gave it the old college try over there at DoIT but just kept falling short so I had to make the switch. Nirvana is much better so far. However, two things from DoIT that I really miss that Nirvana should look at.

  1. Replacing the confusing "Later" list with "Tomorrow". It's nice to just drag the items I didn't get to do on my today's list to the tomorrow list. I'm aware you can just leave it in today or reschedule but it just helps psychologically to clear out the today list and be able to just drag what I want to the tomorrow field in order to plan your next day. Trust me on this.

  2. The DoIT Iphone app, although it has glitches, is designed very well. Please check it out, it's free. It's quick and easy to use, maybe even easier to use than the web version. I'd like Nirvana to model something like this. The Nirvana mobile version is good so far but a stand alone app is much quicker and easier to use.

I guess I am a nirvana veteran at this point and it concearns me when new users are confused by the Later list. It's not GTD and I can see where tomorrow would make more sense to you. Some other GTD apps use the tomorrow list as well but I think it's not needed either.

The today list simply shows what you will focus on "Today". It does not mean the task in the list are actually due that day, but just a focus filter if you will.

If I have a task that I am going to work on today but it takes me 3 days to complete it, the today list still serves it's purpose. As long as the task is something I will continue to work on tomorrow, I can leave it in the Today list because In the morning, I will still see the task where it should be.

The next morning the incompleted task will be something I will work on "Today".

If a task is in my today list and I am not able to complete it and I know that I won't be able to dedicate any time for it the next day, I simply uncheck the star and it goes back to tha Next list.

During your weekly review or daily scans you will see the actionable task in the Next list and can click on the star when you are ready to work on it again.

Hope that makes sense and I also agree that the Later list is confusing and out of place for GTD.
