Confused on where I should store project actions that aren't "NEXT" actions

Quick question about project actions. So my "Next" tab only has my next actions, not my second, third or forth actions pertaining to that project. So where do I put that kind of project thinking? What I wanted to do was open up a project, say "Buy new car" and begin brainstorming the actions associated with that project in order. So something like:

  1. Determine how much I can spend on a new car

  2. Research cars I like in that price range

  3. Set up test drive

I dont want to put all 3 of these actions on my "Next" list because only number one is a true next action. Where do I store the remaining actions? I thought doing all of this thinking under the project's tab and then selecting "hide project tasks" under the preferences tab would solve this, but it makes it even more difficult because then it will make the true next action associated with that project disappear as well.

Any ideas?

There is a major change coming to Nirvana that will address this problem. We call it the Unified Next List.

If you do a search for "Unified Next List", you will find several discussions on it. The Next list will soon work as you would expect it to. Only the Projects Next Actions will show up on the Next List and some other needed improvements as well.
