How long does it usually take for an Email to show up in my Inbox?

I did mail two mails as a bcc to my inbox at Nirvana. They have to make it all the way from The Netherlands to wherever you are.

Any suggestions as to why they do not show up within 5 minutes?

Ah... was wondering when someone would bring this up.

We can't process bcc'd emails at this time. It's a shortcoming, I suppose, in the way that we implemented email to inbox. Basically, we're reading through incoming email headers to find out which Nirvana account to "deposit" the email, and with bcc emails, there is nothing to parse as they are truly blind carbon copies. Drat.

Ok. Good to know. Not sure if this is a shortcoming or an inconvenience .....

Hmm, if emails to Nirvana can't use the BCC field, then doesn't this "expose" the secret email address to any others who might be copied on the email. Wouldn't then a Reply All cause more emails to go to the Nirvana mailbox? I'm thinking of cases where an email is sent to a person to delegate a task, and I'd like to use that email as the "Waiting For" action in Nirvana. If that's the case, then that probably forces the extra step of going into Sent items and then forwarding the original email to my Nirvana inbox.

As an aside, I know that ToodleDo and Evernote allow using BCC for their secret email inboxes.

In any case, I think Nirvana is an awesome product and I continue to find it more and more useful every day. Thanks much!

Hi @agold... sorry for the tardy reply on this thread. I'm adding this as a suggestion to our email -> inbox feature for the dev team's consideration. You bring up some good points.

    thanks,

    Hi There,

Yes I'd like to third work on resolving this issue. CC'ing, as mentioned above, is not practical. And it's a pain to have to reforward your own emails.

It's super-easy for me to simply BCC on a reply like "no problem, I'll get you that by Friday" and have it, along with the task, sent to my Nirvana Inbox (at which point I clean it up and run it through the GTD system).

I understand the tech-problem though... Are there any other unique identifiers? For example, could one set up registered email addresses, such that if there is no "@nirvanahq" in the headers, then it would look at the "To" field and if that email address is registered, it would go towards that user's inbox(es)....

Good luck, but its a key feature!

@Bernard - The only real solution is for us (Nirvana) to actually create a nirvanahq email address for each user account... something that is not all that difficult to implement if we could find the time to dedicate to it, but with our limited resources at present, seems to keep getting punted. Hopefully we will be able to come of for air soon and address this.

I'd like to "fourth" this point. I'm coming from ToodleDo and used to add my "task" email address in bcc a lot. (so i can move it to 'waiting')

+1 for bcc emails to inbox !!

i think it's a mandatory feature for getting a smooth workflow experience...
80% of my task result from forwarding mails to my GTD system (toodledo atm).

putting my nirvana address into "to" is not an option especially if clients are recipients of the mails.

    thanks !!
