Retain login credentials with Fluid App (Mac)?
I read something about people using Fluid on Macs to make Nirvana act like a stand alone desktop app and I love the idea! Problem is every time I open it it asks me to re-enter my login info. The web version seems to remember this info and I'd rather have it just open and be ready to go. Any suggestions? Is this just a limit of Fluid or am I missing something?

Not a Mac user, so I can't help you here. I know there are plenty of them on these forums, so help should come soon. :-)

I just upgraded to try Nirvana 2 and can confirm that this is an issue for me as well. Previously (Nirvana 1) it seemed to work fine.

My understanding of this is that FluidApp can't write the authentication token to local storage -- it can only use cookies -- so it won't work.
N1 doesn't use local storage, and so it worked there.

Just tried with the latest Fluid (free version) and still no dice, for the reasons David mentioned above.
BUT, perhaps the paid version supports it? I'm not sure what this means (quoted from the fluid web site)
"...for $4.99, you can purchase a Fluid License which unlocks a few extra features: Create Fluid Apps with Separate Cookie Storage. (Preferences → Security → Cookie Storage) ..."

Nope.
I have just paid 5$ and no luck - the Cookie setting doesn't change anything - need to type the password each time... oh well... I guess I supported the developer all the same :)

Hi guys - just updated to the latest version of fluid - 1.3 which allegedly supports local storage, but still its not retaining logon credentials, anyone else had a go?

I am not using the Fluid App (windows user), however after migration to N2 I have the same issue with the KeeFox password app within Firefox. Also tried the autofill function within Chrome, worked with N1 however also no success with N2.
The not functioning KeeFox password is bothering me the most since it means I either can not make use of different strong password but should use a simple password or stay logged in.
(still liking Nirvana, and even more after migration to N2)

You could try using the Global Autotype function of KeePass instad of using the browser plug-in. That should work with any app or browser, not just firefox.

I'm on latest Fluid too. I have to login each time I start Nirvana2.
I know it isn't secure, but I sure would like the ability to embed my ID/password in a URL. Something like http://app.nirvanahq.com/login/myUserId/myPassword or http://myUserId:***@app.nirvanahq.com/
If it were my bank account, I'd be reluctant to put my password in a URL, but these are just my tasks.

@denton I didn't think you could use plugins in Fluid

@scottschulthess I was referring to Arno's discussion of KeeFox. As a browser plug-in that would not work. However, KeePass being a full client application running on the machine, should work. It has an option for Global Auto-Type which should work. And it should work in any application, not just a browser or Fluid app. I use it to log into IM clients, etc.
