Batch Edit

Hi there,

so far I really like Nirvana. However, there's one function that I'm sorely missing and that is the possibility to edit multiple tasks at once (e.g. assign tags, change dates). Is this something on your agenda (and somewhere other than in the "distant future" folder) or can I stop hoping for it?

I've been using RTM for a few years and really like it but would prefer an app that allows me to manually order tasks and to pick a date from a calendar. That's one of the reasons I like Nirvana (and because it looks nice, obviously). So if batch edit is coming you've got a subscriber for life - ahh, if the iPhone app turns out nice, that is.. :)

Cheers,
Lasse

Hi Lasse... batch edit is a great idea. In a previous incarnation of Nirvana we had inline editing which would be much closer to batch editing as it would be like editing a list in Word or Notepad - just click and type. This feature may come back.

Either way, I have added your suggestion to our big list o' suggestions.

    Best,
    Christiane

    Hi Christiane,

thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I have no idea what inline editing is. With my limited understanding I can't picture how it could be somewhat like batch editing. After all, what I want is not to change multiple attributes of a single task in one go but to change a single attribute of multiple tasks at once (like adding a certain tag to all the items in my inbox). But who knows, maybe inline editing comes close and I just can't see how.

What I mean by inline editing is instead of a pop-up displaying when you click on a task to edit, the notes area and other options simply "unfold" or are revealed (kind of like a drawer opening). Again, not batch editing as you described, but would be faster than what we have in place now.

Once we have the functionality to be able to select multiple tasks at once, we'll be able to address batch editing. thanks

inline editing will be a welcome feature. I also agree that multiple task editing is also a great feature to have.

    Thanks
