[Bug report] Repeating task turns into "(untitled)"

I created a repeating task last week that looked perfectly fine when I was done with it. However, after moving into Focus today, the task title is gone. Instead it just reads "(untitled)". Everything else about it is fine. In Scheduled the next recurrence still has the correct title.

    That's weird. This has not happened to me yet but I don't have many repeating task yet.

    @Lasse -- this happened to me yesterday - Elbert's working on a cause/fix.

    In my case, it seems to occur when...
    1) When the task is part of a project and there is a due date with a spawn x-days before
    2) It was a task from pre-171 that was changed to be a recurring task after build 171.

    Does your situation meet that criteria, or is there some more info you can give me?

    It doesn't seem to be an issue with newly created tasks (as far as I can tell at this point) -- even if created within the same project.

    Thanks,
    David

    @David,

    in my case it was a combination of both. The task was a pre-171 scheduled task that I changed to be a recurring task and it had a due date with a spawn 1 day before (at first. I later changed it to "spawn" on the day it is due). It was not part of a project.

    Update - Elbert & I have been doing some bug tracking this morning, and he's pretty sure what the cause of this is, so a fix will be coming.

    And we pretty much confirmed, that this only occurs when a task that was created previous to Build 171, is then transformed into a repeating task (within a project or not).

    Tasks created in, or after, Build 171 are not affected.

    Hope that helps.

    I've been having this problem since converting to N2 this week, and converting some tasks to recurring as well. How can I see the details of these tasks, so I can figure out what tasks I need to do?

    @Dale - my suggestion for a temporary work-around would be to create new tasks for those you want to be recurring at this point -- don't convert pre-build-171 tasks into recurring.

    If I recall correctly from my testing, the tags, notes, energy, time required, and due date are retained; the title, area, and associated project (if any) are lost.

    Main problem now is those recurring tasks keep showing up. I try moving them to the trash, but they keep reappearing. Is there a way I can delete the source task that causes the repeating? I can't find one.

    @Dale, just drag the "source tasks" (or pattern tasks, as David calls them) into the Trash end empty the Trash. That's how I do it at least. Once the source task is gone, no more copies will be created.

    Lasse, the problem was I couldn't find the source tasks... But I think I was looking in the wrong place. I just went into scheduled tasks, and deleted the ones that had repeating... I'll see if this solves the problem. Thanks.

    This problem is still happening to me. I've deleted the tasks and recreated them after having the new build that had the fix, but it's still happening. The current build I'm running is N2 build 189.

    Deleted them from scheduled tasks definitely solved the problem for me. Before that I was only deleting the ones that were appearing. If you can just delete all scheduled tasks and recreate, that should work.

    The deleting and recreating solves 95% of the cases since we put in the previous fix.
    We added some additional server-side diagnostics this week and found one more obscure sequence of events yesterday that could also cause the untitled tasks to occur.

    We'll be pushing out a fix soon that should correct that scenario as well.
    I believe this one doesn't require a delete/re-create -- it's a server-side fix. I'll double check to make sure.

    Thanks,
    David

    Ok, I'm going to delete all Scheduled tasks and current, then recreate them and see what happens. I'll report back after those new tasks start appearing.

    OK folks - with Build 206 the "untitled" task issue should be corrected.

    If anybody sees this happening again let us know, but please start a new thread to do so it's easy to separate old from new.

    Thanks,
    David
