Order of Actions in Unified Next List

I have my projects ordered in the priority I would like them completed. The order of actions from within my projects appears to be ordered by creation date of the individual actions. I want to order them in order of the project I have prioritised, can this be done?

    Nathan,

You should be able to drag and sort your Projects task in any order you please. If you choose the "Sequential" project mode, the top most task is considered your Next Action and will show up in the Next list as expected.

Not sure if I understood your situation correctly, so I apologize if I did not.

Looks like he's talking about the order of the project tasks in the UNL. Which appear based on the tasks' creation dates, not the order of his project list.

For instance, if Project A and Project B were in that order in the projects list, but he'd created Task B in Project B before Task A in Project A, in the UNL, Task B would show up before Task A.

I haven't investigated how Nirvana is handling ordering of tasks in the UNL, but it would be nice to know the logic being used.

    Hi haeffb,

You're correct, If I change the priority of my projects, I do not want to have to manually move all the actions from the project within the 'unified next list' a well.

Guess I am still confused here.

Are you using the Parallel mode or Sequential mode for your projects?

In my Next list, I can freely order all my Next Actions by dragging them around. I use Sequential mode, so I only have one Next Action for each of my Projects. I assume the issue mentioned here is when you use the Parallel mode in your projects but I could be wrong.

If it is a Parallel mode issue, I would have to sit this one out because I don't believe the Parallel mode for projects is a good practice at all. At least not for GTD. :-)

@Proximo, The question is not about the order of tasks within a Project.

It's also not about sequential vs. parallel.

It's about the order of Projects themselves in the Projects list, and how changing that order doesn't change the order of project tasks in the UNL. I think Nathan would like to see the tasks from his higher-priority projects (defined by their order in the Projects list) appear higher on the UNL.

    OHHHHHHHHH!

Now I see what you are saying. The Project list on the Left Navi. When you change the order of Projects on the Left Navi, the UNL does not order the task associated with those projects.

How funny would it be that after all my excitement in understanding what is being discussed here is wrong. ROFL.

Ah, yes this is true for the UNL view option.

It does re-sort the order for the grouped by project and sequential next actions options when the projects in the left navi are re-ordered -- just not for the UNL view option.

I'll put that on the list.

    Thanks,
    David
