Scheduled vs. Due & Start
I'm still very new to Nirvana, although not quite to GTD. As I'm playing with Nirvana, most of it is pretty clear, but once in a while something pops up that stumps me a bit. One such thing is the fact that you can schedule something for a date, but also have a start and due date. But you can also have a task that unscheduled with a start and/or due date. So I'm just wondering what these mean in comparison to one another and in combination...

@Levi, yes, that can be a bit confusing. In the beginning Scheduled was only for tasks with a start date (which can obviously have a due date, too). Later on, as recurring tasks were implemented, those were added to the Scheduled list as well. That's why, when you create a task and you select Scheduled from the list menu, it says "Scheduled for" followed by "Start Date..." and "Make Repeating...". This is confusing because originally scheduling an item meant assigning a start date. Now scheduling means either assigning a start date to a task or making a task recurring (which doesn't preclude the option to assign a start date to it, too, just as you can assign a due date).

Ok, it seemed as if "Start date" and "scheduled for" were separate dates that you could set in addition to due date, I see now that essentially they are the same thing. I'm not clear on your statement "Now scheduling means either assigning a start date to a task or making a task recurring (which doesn't preclude the option to assign a start date to it, too, just as you can assign a due date)." Part of this is difficult because the recurring copies don't seem to be visible - I guess this is because they are made at the given frequency you specify. Also since there is no calendar view, which might be helpful in visualizing all of this. I'll have to reread your comments in the morning when I'm a bit more awake! Thanks for taking the time to explain it!
