Automatic assignment of area tags is inconsistent ?
Something I can't quite wrap my head around:
A few days ago, I started using areas. I have a 'Work' area and a 'Home' area. When I choose 'Work area', and create a new task from the Inbox, or from one of the other categories, the 'Work' tag is automatically added, which is great.
Today, in the 'Work' area, I clicked on a tag in the Tag Cloud to search for tasks with a specific tag (the name of someone I work with). On the right side of the screen, I can see all the tasks that have this tag. Then, I decide to add another task for this person. I type 'n', the dialog box appears, but the 'Work' area is NOT automatically added to the task (although I am still in 'Work area' when you look at the left navi).
The end result is that, if I don't add the area tag myself (and I'm not used to doing this routinely because most of the time the tag is assigned automatically), the task disappears from my 'Work' area, and goes to 'Unassigned'. This is not good, because the task is effectively no longer visible when I'm at work (and thus in the 'Work' area).
This happened with three separate tasks before I noticed the problem. This may be expected behavior because the tag cloud isn't area-related, but then, on the other hand: I never left the 'Work area'.
To me, this is a confusing aspect of the UI, and, if you're not careful, it can make tasks 'disappear', which is not OK.
Wouldn't it be better to automatically assign the area tag based on what area you've chosen manually (on the left navi) ?

Sounds like that would be the right way to go. I know that the Inbox is excluded from being involved in any area (and is therefore present in all areas) but that should probably be the only aspect that is not affected by the area settings.

@Elurven
Even a task created from within the Inbox adds the current area tag. But apparently not from the Tag Cloud ... :-)

@Geert - yes the n shortcut is inconsistent in this case -- it's treating it like an i shortcut from what I can see (which doesn't pre-populate any tags).
Thanks for the catch!
