I currently use Thinking rock because it is one of the few productivity applications with a good project template system.

Are Project Templates currently available for nirvana or at least on the development map?

    Hi Chris,

I can say that no, we haven't thought about implementing Project Templates as of yet. I took a quick look at Thinking Rock and se how they could be useful for certain industries where processes for getting projects done follow the same flow, have the same tasks etc...

I think this idea would be perfect to throw out the the development community once we open up the Nirvana API and see if one or more developers would take this on as a project.

At Nirvana we are really focused on keeping our web app SUPER simple - one of the reasons why we started Nirvana was due to the fact that we found existing solutions either too simple for our needs, or way too complicated. So add-ons such as Project Templates I think we'll leave to the keen and talented dev community.

Feel free to suggest any other of these kinds of ideas as I'm archiving them for that purpose.

    thanks again,

    ~Christiane

We are considering a simple copy/paste template creation syntax... probably based on TaskPaper.

Super simple yet very powerful. I think this would be the easiest route for people to create and share project templates.

That sounds sounds like a elegant and simple way to make nirvana very powerful.

I am excited to see this implemented!

I'd be happy with a setting field "Project Template Text" and I provide a default block of text. I use something like below, and in the new project I flesh out the sections. To me it is very important to clarify the PURPOSE of the project and the OBJECTIVES that define success. But given we all work differently a single text field is fine, but would save me copy-and-pasting each time if it could be pre-filled from a setting.

I guess others may need a standard set of tasks added to a project, but for me just a block of std text in the description will do the job.

+1 here as well for either a template or "copy" button or duplicate a current project. I posted earlier a similar suggestion. I could still be kept simple (which I agree is very important and one of the reasons I like Nirvana).

+1 for task templates. I would love to enter a grand date for a bunch ot tasks to be setup with different dates.

    +1 for project templates.

In my line of work (Commercial Real Estate), there is a high level of repetition for the acquisition of property data. It would work better if there were sub-projects. For every project, there would be a sub-project of data acquisition that would be the same for property classes (i.e. hotels, shopping centers, office buildings, etc). This would save me a lot of time.
