the default setting for how the list of tasks is sorted really should be by due date.
but every time i go to today or next, the tasks are all jumbled up and i have to click the date button for them to be sorted by due date. this is an unnecessary step. why not have the lists in today and next sorted by due date by default. that is how i want to see my tasks most of the time, chronologically by due date. thanks for looking into this.
fantastic program otherwise. thank you so much. seb

GTD is not about seeing your task by due dates since only hard dated items should have due dates, such as a doctor's appointment.

This is why the due dates are not listed in a particular order until you specifically filter them by the "Due Date" by clicking the button.

Most of the task in your Foucs/Next list would be organized based on Time, Energy and Context. This is different through out the day and you must decided what order you want to tackle the task after you identified the ones that make the most sense to consider at any moment.

What I do is filter by Time, Energy and Context and then choose the top 3 for me to work on. I then switch to the Focus list and order them by importance. I try to keep my Focus list down to 5 task maximum. This allows me to focus on getting them done and forces me to jump back into the Next list in search of what I need to consider next. Once I go back into the Next list, I filter by Time, Energy and Context again and decided what to star from the smaller list of options I have at the moment.

    Rinse and Repeat.

I would have to agree with Proximo here (which seems to be my default position for some reason ;-)). I tend to be a little lax about assigning time and energy to my tasks though, which probably means that I could benefit from thinking through my tasks some more, before organizing them into my system. At any rate, sorting tasks based on due date is probably the wrong way to go.
