A bit off topic, but...

This is outside the scope of GTD, but I'd like a way to mark completed tasks such some of them go into an "Accomplishments" list. The idea is to automate a running list of accomplishments for use in weekly notes, monthly reports, and especially annual performance reviews.

One of the best pieces of advice I ever got in my career was to create an "at-a-boy" file and put it prominently on my computer desktop....and then anytime something important happens, enter it along with a time and date stamp. This has to rank as one of the best ideas ever. Perversely, most people agree it's a great idea, but few do it.

I'd probably edit the task title and notes as I completed a task to go into this file, but then I'd like it to drop off my "To Do" list and onto my "Accomplishments" list automatically.

Again, I know this is probably out of scope, but thought I'd throw it out there in case you guys want an idea that would differentiate you from the competition.

Thx!

PS: Sorry, I meant to post this in the suggestions area, but obviously I messed that up and now can't find a way to fix it.

One way you could accomplish this now would be to add an "accomplishment" tag and then when you mark something complete that deserves this kind of special mark, you would just add that tag to it, then when you want to look at your accomplishments, just go into the logbook and filter by this. I'm thinking that might be something a third-party developer creates (a view of these) once the API is available...

Huh! I didn't realize we had filtering capability in the logbook!

I hadn't really tried using the logbook. I just assumed it was a long, unmanageable pile of data with a few nuggets buried in it, but too much trouble to find.

BTW, that's my prejudice from poor experience with other GTD tools that caused me to not even try it out. Once I did, it was obvious there was a lot of functionality. Just letting you know my assumptions led me to overlook this capability.

I found can edit items in the logbook to make them more explicit for long term record keeping (rather than short titles I use in the heat of battle)...and I can delete (drag to trash) any trivia I really don't want to retain...which significantly improves the signal to noise ratio.

I can even go back through items I currently have in my logbook and add an "accomplishment" tag to items I've decided I'd like to track for reports and annual reviews and stuff.

    Cool! Very nice indeed!
