Votes for an Evernote integration

I've searched the discussions for Evernote integration mentions and there are some that are getting old now, so I wanted to gauge the level of interest in the community for an Evernote integration to Nirvana.

I for one have been a heavy Evernote user for years now and it contains all sorts of valuable project info. I would love to have that easily available to me from within Nirvana projects. It's one of the few Nozbe features that I actually liked.

I also think it would be a (relatively) easy integration, as all you really need to do is return a filtered list of notes back and Evernote have a pretty good API. The potential for additional exposure for Nirvana via Evernote's Trunk application showcase is also a good reason to do this.

So do I hear anyone else voting for this one?

Evernote integration and Outlook email integration are two major features I need in a GTD system.

I've had no resort but to go back to Nozbe, since they support markdown within all elements (task names, task notes, etc).

I can therefore create a task called:
    check out Yahoo [Link]

The [Link] part is clickable, and would take me directly to the Yahoo site.

    http://www.nozbe.com/gtd/blog/post-44f63e/new_in_nozbe:_powerful_fo...

This is great since, it allows me to therefore create links to both Evernote and also Outlook emails.

For those using Outlook, in order to create links to your Outlook objects (such as emails), you'll need a free tool called "Linker for Windows", which you can get from:
    http://www.teamscope.com/otherpro/utilities.asp

I'm hoping Nirvana can do the same, and allow evernote and outlook links to be clickable. It would be even better to have markdown support, since this would allow us to name those ugly long links into something short.

I agree. Zendone has the Evernote capture integration down very well. You can choose to capture to your Inbox (Default) or put things in other folders inside Evernote. It's very flexible in this way.

Like many people here I've also looked at Zendone and like most I agree that the Evernote integration is indeed great and I would absolutely love for Nirvana to add a similar type of integration.
I also have to agree that Zendone has some major failings that prevent me from utilizing it as a day to day system (Waiting List, Scheduled Dates, etc).
While Nirvana still has a couple of major functionality missing for me (for the love of God get that iPhone app in our hands some time soon and repeating tasks from completion date) it is by far the more complete system for how I work.

I have to say though that as for email linking I don't think I would find it that useful due to the way I have my Outlook mailbox setup with just 4 folders.

    • Inbox (processed to zero)
    • @followup (emails that I need to action - need a reply that would take longer than 2 minutes or contain information I need to review, etc)
    • @waiting (emails that I'm waiting for a response for)
    • Archive (all reference emails, some of which I've copied over to Evernote if they're part of a project or contain interesting information on a product or competitor).

So it's very easy for me to find emails that I need to action in some way when either Nirvana reminds me I'm waiting for a response (a Waiting task has triggered its due date) or I need to make a response (context, time and energy mean this is a task I need to work on).

Not to say having Outlook links wouldn't be useful for some, just for me there's really no need.

On the subject of Outlook one quick tip I would like to share is the use of Quick Steps in Outlook 2010.
I have 2 Quick Steps set up (Nirvana - Actions and Nirvana - Waiting), both will forward the selected email to Nirvana but Nirvana - Actions will also move the email to my @followup folder while Nirvana - Waiting will move it to the @waiting folder.
With the @waiting emails I normally make a point of every few hours going through my Sent Items folder and using the Nirvana - Waiting Quick Step keyboard shortcut to quickly forward emails I want to track for a response to Nirvana and move them to @waiting.
Nirvana - Action is used when I process my Inbox.

Evernote integration along with an android app would set Nirvana as the top GTD tool available. They could charge $99.00 year just like smartytaksk.

While I don't want to talk too much about competition in here, I believe that it is important to keep the community updated on what is going on.

Regarding to this thread about Evernote integration, zendone has just launched a substantial upgrade of their Evernote integreation.

It completely blows the competition out of the water if you ask me. Nirvana should definitely consider some sort of integreation.

    Have a look:
    http://blog.zendone.com/2012/03/11/announcing-version-0-7-7-rich-co...

Now I can have a truly one GTD inbox, which is my Evernote inbox, and I can bidirectionally sync my Evernote notes and GTD notes. Keeping everything in one place.

I can edit the notes in Evernote or Zendone, and everything is beautifully synced.
