Email/SMS Reminders?
Hi. I may have missed this... but wondered if sending SMS/Email reminders was on the list of improvements.
Thanks.

This is on the "What's Next" article.

For me, it is hard to use Nirvana to replace my current system without email/SMS integration. I am interested in this for reminders as well as creating tasks.

I don't see it on that page. That's why I asked.
I see the "Email tasks directly into Nirvana Inbox" but nothing about reminders or notifications.
Maye I'm missing something that is obvious to others... different wording.
Guess I am looking for a heading like "Notifications" or something.
Thanks.

I agree with Vin 100%.
I can't use Nirvana in a professional environment without the ability to forward emails into the system and the flexibility of SMS. For this reason I have some test task that I use to continue testing Nirvana as it improves, but I don't use it as my GTD system at this time.
Attachments is also mentioned in the "What's Next" article and very vital for me. Most of my task and projects come to me via email and many of them have documentation that I would want to keep with the task when forwarding it to my GTD System.

Does anyone know what kind of timeframe we're looking at for some of the updates?
I know dates were removed from the timeline on purpose.
But are we looking at months and months or just like weeks.
I am a Things user currently, wishing they had a good web app and email-to-task support.
I started using Things in their early days and they were making pretty quick updates.
So I felt comfortable continuing to use them even though there were some holes in the "perfect" app.
Since I'm new to Nirvana, can someone please give me a sense of how quickly updates are going live?
I assume some guess could be made based on the previous updates.
Thanks.

Jeff,
I know it's a very direct question and maybe hard for Nirvana to answer but I understand where you are coming from. I currently use a service that is good but not specifically designed for GTD, so it's a love/hate relationship at this point.
I have high hopes for Nirvana and would also like to know a time frame. Once some of these things are implemented, I can start looking at using Nirvana as my full time GTD System, which is something I am looking forward too.

I'd say we're tackling about 3-4 "bullets" per month. The priority given to new features is heavily influenced by feedback from our users, including discussions like these. Regarding email/sms reminders, it somehow managed to elude the last draft.
The What's Next page has been updated!

Hi Thanks Elbert,
If discussions like these influence the progress of development then let's keep talking! :D
What else could we talk about?
All the great benefits of being able to send in tasks via email and get notices via email.
Way cool stuff!
Ok... I'll let someone else pipe in now. :)

If the features are influenced by users, let me say that SMS/Email integration is a MUST!
I would probably move over to Nirvana permanently if you could add that feature.
Next on my list:
Mobile app
Subtasks
Compound Filtering
Smart Lists
Thanks for listening.

To answer and resolve the original question of this thread...
Daily Email ticklers can be sent to your email client noting what is in your Today list on a given day. See here for more info:

thanks,

Daily Ticklers are fine, but not nearly as helpful as SMS/Email reminders for individual tasks. I'd love to see this integrated in some way.

I think SMS reminders to my phone are extremely useful because I am chained to my phone.

OK, I'll bite.
Here's the thing... I could see SMS ticklers being a very popular feature, and we'd need to find a way to do this affordably, ergo free or very low $0.xx per sms. Anyone have suggestions for affordable/reliable/international SMS gateways?
Perhaps we should just hook into Twitter and call it a day? Folks could wire up Twitter DM's from Nirvana to blip onto your mobile device of choice... Thoughts?

I don't care how it works. I have used twitter integration with both RTM and Toodledo. It works fine. I don't know how well it will catch on with those who don't use twitter.
If you need any beta testers for twitter integration, count me in.

Count me in for Twitter beta testing if you go that direction.

Is there a way to "jerry rig" reminders?
I know you can "scrape" websites, I wonder if there's a way to write a PHP or CURL app to scrape the website, then drop the content in something like a Google Calendar for Android devices, or iCal for iPhones, then synce, say, 4 times daily.
Any thoughts or ideas?

That would be difficult as the entire app is rendered via javascript at runtime. Best bet is to sit tight for a few more weeks for the API. Then you can grab data in any way you wish. :-)
