Update where things are with Nirvana going live...
This has been discussed in different places on the forum over the last week or so. Elbert and David, may I gently suggest that you provide an update on your blog? There has not been any correspondence since August 14th. A few sentences to inform your faithful followers that things are indeed progressing and getting closer to official release would go a long way.
Just a friendly suggestion....
-David

Yes - INDEED!
As much as I love this program - the communication has gone from sporadic to non-existant. Which is really too bad.
I WANT to think that is because the team is heads down. But without some sort of periodic communication it's very easy to start looking around at other solutions.
PLEASE give us some sort of update!!!!
Thanks
Eric

+1 Would really appreciate some assurances.

I can only agree. There is basically no communication and more and more time passes between new builds.

The team (namely David) have repeatedly said on these forums that they are currently working on retiring N1 and will soon thereafter publicly launch N2. Somewhere I read that they are shooting for a few weeks from now for retiring N1 but that could always change due to unforeseen things popping up.
As for there being no communication, I completely disagree. David is on these forums answering people's questions nearly every day.
If one wants to look to other services, that is your right. But for me, Nirvana is a pretty solid product as is. Any further improvements are welcome but are not so critical that I cannot wait for them. I do not understand the impatience of some people on this forum. Nirvana seems to have a relatively small team who are moving as quickly as they can with their resources.

No one is saying that David is NOT on the forums answering questions. He is doing a wonderful job. The issue is communication at a higher level on where things are with Nirvana. This is not rocket science -- in any organization, people want regular updates on how things are progressing so that they FEEL like they are engaged and part of the process. Yes, they are a small team. But more frequent entries on the blog about what happened this week, and what is planned for next week etc. would go a long way for most of us. I really do not think this is being impatient -- it is just good communication.

Well, Dafyren said "there is basically no communication." I was disagreeing with that statement because David has been pretty active on these forums. Furthermore, I feel that I have a pretty clear idea of the current status of the project from David's posts. They are working on retiring N1 in the next few weeks and launching N2 shortly thereafter. What more do you need to know?

Yes, David has posted things all over the forum. If one wishes to search everywhere for his comments among the different sections, then I suppose one could say we have directed communication. I am talking about centralized, regular blog updates on overall progress and targets.
But it is okay -- let's just agree to disagree.

Phil, that was maybe a harsh statement, but I was thinking about communication about overall progress of development. I agree that support is great and David answers quickly on questions where people have specific issues.
And that is great. I agree with David Drake that we need more centralized blog updates on overall progress.

I agree with David's plea. I am in no way worried, but I think communication is key to keeping users involved, loyal, etc. Silence tends to generate FUD. People start getting antsy if they don't see anything for long periods. I understand that communication takes time away from development, and development cycles can sometimes be long, and telling people that nothing is really going on other than that the next version is still being worked on seems pointless. But a few words can really go a long way. If you don't feel a blog entry is warranted, I would suggest at least posting an "announcement" type post (comments disabled) in one of the forums on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, which says SOMETHING. Just to let us know things are still going on with the app. People get paranoid if they don't see regular communication, even if it's fairly trivial. David's participation here shows that the company is actively involved in at least supporting the current N2, but it is nice to get a more "broadcasty" "hey, we're working hard these last two weeks and making progress. Stay tuned and we hope to be able to share something more specific in another 2 or 4 weeks." Or whatever. Doesn't take much time to do something like that. As I said, I'm not worried, but communication I think is pretty important.

I agree with Levi. I am confident the team is making progress but would like more blog postings. The "we are retiring N1 and moving towards public launch of N2" was posted in June (http://blog.nirvanahq.com/2011/06/10/gunning-for-launch/) and when I read that back then I wasn't thinking 3 or 4 months would go by.
I am optimistic for more to come, but would like to hear more in the meantime.
Thanks,
Rob.

I'm in agreement with the general consensus in this thread as well. Please let us know what is going on. Even if that may be that you have been swamped with other work and have not been able to work on Nirvana as you had planned.
Throw us a bone here ;-)!
