Tag Management Area
I want an area where I can see my current tags, edit them, create new ones or delete them.
This is nice for many reasons, but one in particular is the ability to rename an existing tag and have it change across all task.
Just a thought.

Sounds like a good feature. Shouldn't be too hard. Might take a back seat to some other things on our list, but you never know. It's certainly easier to implement than almost everything else we're gunning for right now.

I now have double tags (some with a comma some without) and want to consolidate. Some tags I've decided I don't want to use any more and yet, there they are.

yes, please. I am in the same situation as Terminado. I have changed the way I want to use tags and now I have way too many of them.

It's nice to know others want this feature too and Elbert already said it's in the burner.

Jamison, another user showed me that you can remove tags by deleting them while they are displayed in a task (from within the task). (If they are associated with multiple tasks, however, you may have to repeat this with the other tasks. Perhaps the devs can clarify this for all of us.

Thanks Terminado - This works for tags within projects, too. A tedious fix, but at least it has allowed me to clean things up.

@Terminado,
If you remove a particular tag from all the task associated with it, the tag will be deleted and no longer show up until you create the tag again for a new task.
So you can delete a tag, but you must do so for every single task that uses it first.

How about a tag drop down menu (like when adding a bookmark in XMarks) that lists all of the tags you've already created, with check boxes to the left of each, so you can just check the ones that apply to that task (there is also a space to add new tags)?

Tag auto filling, a tag management area and a tag list will all be great features. It does not mess up the UI in any way since there is already a tag field. Expanding this tag field will allow for the list with check boxes.
I like it. :-)

Yes, I would love a tag management area that lets me add, edit, and remove tags. Thanks!

Well, I have a tag (#bo) that I'm unable to delete.
I just tried the suggested techniques, but the tag remains.
It has no task associated but it doesn’t disappear.
I totally agree that we need a better tag management. I almost don’t use it because they are not productive – you have to write it… We need something like a drop box or a checkbox, something that we can click in.
I hate that contexts are implemented via tags.
Tags are no productive. Tags are unimportant, not GTD.
Contexts are a very important GTD feature.
Until Nirvana I used to use it constantly but now I depend almost entirely on AoR.

Yes, a tag management area would be nice, +1
Another thing that will be useful for me is drag the tag to task or selection of tasks to assign them.

Sooo I guess this has not be resolved yet? Still no ability to manage (delete) tags?

@Boyd j.
This feature has been added to Nirvana 2 and it works great.
Here is a short video for you.
