Make "Waiting for" a separate section in the "Next" list

Apart from having the option to say whether I want new items added at the top of lists (instead of at the bottom) or the ability to sort by the date at which each task was added or changed, it would be good to make "Waiting for" a separate section in the "Next" list.

Ideally, as I have pointed out earlier, it would be better to be able to click a button (or choose in a drop-down menu) that I do not wish to see my "Waiting for" tasks in the "Next" list. But if they have to be in the "Next" list, It would be good if they could then be sorted under a separate section in the "Next" list. At the moment, I have my own next actions mixed up with Waiting for in a very non-ordered fashion. In order to make a distinction between them, I have to manually drag all "Waiting for" tasks down to the bottom of the "Next" list, which is quite cumbersome to say the least.

+1: I am now inclined to add a "waiting" tag. Being able to separate like is done with the active/inactive projects for example would be very nice.

Maybe there should come an advanced settings page where we can switch all these behaviours on and off.

There are 2 camps on this - those who don't want to see Waiting For in "Today" and "Next" views, for example, and those who do. I suspect we'll set up the account settings (like jos suggests) so people can choose their own preference to help resolve this debate. :)

I think everyone knows my stance on this already. :-)

Waiting for simply does not belong in the Next list or Today list per GTD. This simply violates a core GTD principle.

I will be honest and say that this is really starting to annoy me. In the last month, I have added many new Waiting for task and it simply makes my Weekly review harder to accomplish. This slows me down when trying to decide what I will do Next because I see all of these NON Actionable task in my Next list.

I have to say that I agree with Proximo completely that I do not want Waiting For in the Next list. But I do want to be able to show them in Today with some form of switch. So please disregard parts of my initial post ;-). I really dislike having the Waiting For items in the Next list. Having the option not to show them by using a button or a switch is really just a work-around to the real issue - that they are in the Next list in the first place!

In addition, you can choose not to put Waiting For items in the Today list (unless they have a date, in which case, they will show up there anyway) but they show up in the Next list, no matter what you do.

I agree with Proximo. Waiting for action items do NOT belong in the Next
list. They should be off your radar until you put them on any other list
manually or until they show up on your radar because there is a due dat on
    them.

Not having to worry about things is a core principle of GTD. That means
keeping things off your radar until they need to show up there.
