Hello,

Do you plan to a implement Folders (and Sub-Folder with multi level of deep) to store Project ...
... with the ability to share a same Project in two or more folder ?

Best Regards

Bernard

    Nirvana is thinking about it since many of us are suggesting it. We will have to wait and see what happens.

    I'd really like to see some form of this implemented. If I had my pick, it would probably be Sub-Projects. I've never cared for the Folder concept in other programs. Right now, I am using a few key tags to group related Projects together, which works very well to find related Projects. But until sub-projects are implemented, virtually all of my work-based Projects are named after clients simply because that is the quickest way to get to the tasks associated with a particular client. It is also how I work, focusing on one case at a time which may involve various tasks.

    I'd rather have a top level Project named after the client followed by sub-projects that are more true to GTD, that is, tasks that require more than one action. I'd easily have multiple sub-projects for a given client in many circumstances. If I eliminated the client-named projects, my project list would quickly become overwhelming. And using client named tags is out of the question due to sheer volume.

    +1 on the whole concept.

    Functionally, there's no difference between folders and sub-projects. Sub-projects, though, bring with them the associated project meta-data. Because of that, my vote goes with sub-projects.

    @roddyt Very succinctly put! Agreed.

    @roddyt,

    Very good point. If would be more useful to have the meta-data associated with the sub-projects.

    I agree that there should be some type of Folder/Sub-Folder capability not unlike the "Folder" in the latest version of OmniFocus which allows for one to create a "Project" for each Client (in the name of the client) within an overall Project Folder called "Clients"

    This distinction I make between folders and sub projects is this:

    Folders - just a means of grouping things, keep a long list of projects manageable. An advanced feature could be to allow focusing on any part of that folder hierarchy (like areas of focus does it) - but getting the UX of that right is not easy.

    Sub-projects - for me this is a fairly lightweight thing.. for most purposes its just one project, but a sub-project would be displayed indented in the project list (how many other apps handle this). This is useful when you are banging out a project that has quite a few steps, and you realise one of those steps in itself has multiple steps

    I'd like to see both features really

    I agree with you on Sub-projects. It's nothing more than an indented task list within a task.
