a visualization of # 'today' items per day
Being able to quickly see how many 'today' items there will be for any given date in the future would be a useful feature in my opinion.
When choosing a due date for a task and deciding how many days before the due date the task should show up in 'today', why not create a "mouse-over" function in the little calendar? e.g. If I hover my mouse on jun 3rd, I see '3 tasks due, total 'today' = 5'.
Granted, there are more important features for the developers to focus on right now, but in the future this may be yet another feature that sets Nirvana apart from the rest.

Toodledo has a Calendar view that does just this. Maybe this would work best in a Calendar view as well. I do not like using the hovering idea for functional things or information. This is one of the things that made Toodledo hard to learn and use.
I never really used the Calendar view in Toodledo because I do everything in Google Calendar, but it was useful to see how many task where due in the future through a simple calendar.
Hopefully we can do this by using iCal functionality and this information can show up in the calendar of your choice.

That would be a great feature indeed.

Hi!
I do something similar with ThinkingRock, dropbox and Google Calendar. ThinkingRock can make a calendar file with my tasks automatically in a file (my_task.ics). TR save this file (automatically) in my dropbox folder and I have a html calendar in my google calendar point this file.
Really easy, really good.

can't keep up with you guys! of course, we are working on something along these lines right now... we're calling it "upcoming" internally, as a hybrid between today, due, scheduled items... not sure if we'll be able to make this work as intuitively as we'd like, but we're trying some things out. of course, ics feeds in/out are planned...

ooo, nifty! I take it that that little calendar icon (looks like a calculator to me) in the top right opens and closes the calendar? Would have to add some arrows to scroll through the weeks. Also, don't forget about Saturday and Sunday. Yes, on the right track.
I know I am a step ahead here, but would it be possible in that kind of view to read and view information from other calendar apps, like google calendar? That way, you can see your appointments and events in connection with task due dates.

OK,
So how do I get in the Beta Beta. You know, the beta features that are still beta for the beta version. :-)

This looks great Elbert. And yes - if the possibility exists to let users in the Alpha - count me in!

I would also like a beta-beta invitation for this feature

Ohhh glad to see that people want to play with the beta beta features. We have discussed setting up a user preference which allows you to access the beta beta features... à la Google Labs type thing.
Guessing by the reaction... it might be time to turn it on!

Sorry if I opened up a can of worms. :-)
We are feature hungry here I guess.

Hey Christiane: The fact that you guys can set up a feature toggle is great. We've discussed a number of suggestions that would benefit from an on/off switch in the user preferences (context tag badges, number of text lines in task notes showing in list views, etc.... can't think of them all now.)
Of course, I will keep the beta beta switch "enabled" as soon as it's added to Nirvana Labs!
