I think it should default be arranging your "Projects" alphabetically, or at least include that option. Because I do think some people might have some other unique/custom way they would like to order them. Seems like once you set up a decent amount of projects it is much easier to sort through them and keep up with them if they are ordered alphabetically.

Hi Shane... thanks for your suggestion. A user recently suggested the same thing so I have your +1 to it.

    Best,

    Just a suggestion.

You should consider ordering your Projects by priority.

Sorting my Next list and Project list by priority makes it very clear on what I should focus on after I filtered by Context, Time and Energy. This is the stepping stone to deciding what I will do today.

Not saying this what everyone needs to do, but just throwing a suggestion out there.

I definitely agree with ordering the projects by [riority, but by setting
the due date it sets the priority for me. I work for a dental marketing
company. So I have a lot of projects going all at once. So I created
projects and I am labeling them as the doctors name. So I am continually
adding NEW TASKS to projects. So it is much easier if the projects are
ordered alphabetically so that I can quickly locate the correct doctor to
add the task and set the new deadline.

    Does that make sense?

@Shane - I would suggest naming your projects what they are, rather then by Doctor's name... then tagging each project with the doctor's name. Tags are always sorted alphabetically. This way, if you have more than one project per doctor, you can visit Projects, then click on the doctor's name to instantly filter the projects list to the relevant projects.

This is how I manage all of my client projects... of course, your milage may vary. :-)

I understand your situation and I appreciate you sharing it. I think Elbert has a great suggestion to allow you the benefit of sorting by Priority and tagging them by Doctor.

It's so cool to learn about different professions and the unique workflows they require.

    Philosophical Question:

Should projects adhere to the notion that sort order indicates priority? Or does this concept really only pertain to actionable items (tasks)? Given the UI we introduced recently where projects can be quickly brought into/out of focus in the left nav (active/inactive toggle), I'd like to explore the idea that projects might be sorted alphabetically by default, with an option to switch to manually sorting if that is preferred.

    Just throwing it out there...

I love THAT solution. That's exactly what I would prefer it to do as well.

I prefer manual sorting. I sort of group certain kinds of things together, and then use priority for a portion of the list. I guess that means my preference is to have it be user selectable.

    @Elbert,

Actually, you have a great point here. You don't complete projects, only the actionable task. The sorting I do is more inside the Project than the actual project list itself.

I do like manual sorting because sometimes I do list them based on Priority but having a user option for Alphabetical and Manual sorting would be great.
