Task Sorting

I love how you can manually reorder tasks so easily in Nirvana, but I still think sorting would be since for larger lists of contacts (or users who just don't like manual task sorting). I just realized there's nothing on the left of the light gray bar that holds the notes toggle on the right, and this would be a great place for a sort bar. I would like sorting via alphabet, focus (when all focuses are shown), due date, time, and energy.

    Nirvana is working on more sorting options, but I don't think they would be adding a bunch of columns. If they do, I will have to make a trip up to Canada and have a word or two with Elbert.

    Toodledo uses a column based sorting system and it looks horrible. It's like working with a spreadsheet.

    Nirvana is a GTD application and the Nirvana Team prides themselves in making the UI very slick and simple.

    One of the ideas floating around is to add a Netflix type arrow that would shoot the selected task to the top of the list.

    When creating a new task, they are talking about options to make them show up on top or bottom based on a user preference.

    Not sure what else Nirvana has in mind, but they will reply to this post soon enough.

    Not columns, just buttons on that mostly empty gray bar for quick sorting. They wouldn't even need Mac OS X Finder-like columns for sorting. I'm thinking it would literally look exactly the same, except with some sort buttons to sort them a certain way on that bar. Definitely not columns, I like the way Nirvana displays tasks. I'm not asking to change it much, just a simple sort feature recommendation is all.

    And I understand that. I'm just saying, some people might find a view to sort by priority/due date/name useful. If you still don't understand my idea, I can make a mockup in Photoshop for you.

    @thenickperson,

    Got it.

    Sound like an interesting idea.

    Sorting is always a good thing.

    Thanks. And yeah, I think it's a great place to put the buttons, too. It's just empty screen space that's waiting to be used for something
