Sub-projects: Yes or No
This has been a topic discussed in several threads but I wanted to create a new post and see if we can get a simple Yes or No answer on this.
Looking at the "What's Next" list, I notice that sub-projects are not listed and they are not even discussed around the Pool Table at Nirvana HQ.
I find this discouraging because I can't think of anyone who would say that sub-projects are not needed. When you are dealing with complicated or large projects, you almost always have a sub-project that is involved or several. I think sub-projects are far more important and fundamental than many things found on the list.
Why are sub-projects not on the list or why are they not being discussed around the pool table?
I know you are busy with the next major update but I know many users would like a straight answer on this.
Here is the list for a quick look:

Thanks for listening and keep up the good work.

+1 on sub projects and project folders.
I am a bit disappointed to see that this thread was started on September 14th with the last comment (Up to mine) October 26th and thus far nothing from the developing team. I would very much like to get an answer.
For me personally this is a make or break feature. I find that while I love Nirvana this one feature would make me look elsewhere.
Please guys at least let us know one way or the other.

The long delays between any release is a big concern as it screams to the market "we don't have enough people."
Much better to have micro-releases than they big long releases with months between any activity. This is why I am dabbling with Nirvana but afraid to ditch OF. SmartyTask has the same issue.

@Ryan: If you look at the release notes you'll see that until June the team has introduced new features on an almost monthly basis, so this is really the first long delay. The reason that the updates since June have been only tweaks and bug fixes is that the Nirvana team isn't working on the current build. Here's what Elbert said about it in August: "We are currently maintaining two versions of Nirvana. One is what you currently see when you log in, the other is built on top of the (soon to be public) nirvana api." So, considering that the devs are working on a new version and on quite a number of significant improvements (see "What's next"), I think that it's understandable, that things are taking longer than usual. I'm pretty sure that once the Nirvana team has the api and the new version up and running, the time between releases will be much shorter again. My bet is that you can safely ditch OF.
@Bob: While I'd love to get a one liner from Elbert or Christiane on this topic, I understand that they're currently silent about this. Not only because they're focusing all their energies on the next update, but also because in the past they weren't content with just saying yay or nay but rather took the time to really discuss features like these with the users and to get everyone's opinion. I'm guessing that once the new version is out and they've gotten a bit of rest, we'll have a lively conversation about sub-projects.

@Lasse-
I understand. I don't have time to monitor all the forums, and was just speaking from a impression. Might a recommend more blog post updates or twitter updates or somethign to show progress. As a marketer, these incremental things have a huge market impact on the Nirvana brand and the impression of the brand for people who aren't willing to spend the time in the forums. A vibrant community with continuous movement has a huge brand and buzz advantage. Maybe a sneaky peaks?
BTW - Very much looking forward to the new app. Very much.

+1 Sub-projects are a necessity. I also really like the idea of project folders. If Team Nirvana implemented project folders along with sub-projects, I think I could probably manage without subtasks.

As a trainer, I create public events, for example:
"Goal Setting Magic Seminar" This is a BIG project, under it, I need subprojects:
1) Venue Selection
2) Hiring a DJ
3) Setting Up Website sales letter
etc.
Under each sub-project I have tasks that need sub-tasks but are not that many to warrant another project, for instance:
Sub-project: "Hire a DJ"
Task: Call "Randy", the DJ that worked at Melissa's party
Sub-Task: Call melissa to get Randy's phone number
Having the ability to have sub-tasks, sub-projects and folders is a MUST for me. I am currently using omnifocus which allows me to use them. The reason I am considering Nirvana is because it is a simple UI with clearly marked GTD features, like: someday, etc.
Please, add:
Foders, sub-projects and sub-tasks.
This would make your software very robust and will widen its usability.
Thanks,
Edward
