Nirvana 2: How many Next Actions do I have?
I always liked the ability to see how many Next Actions where in my Next List.
What happened to it?

Personally I like it better this way because I'll never get down to 0 anyway (or even anywhere close to 0). So it doesn't really make a difference to me how many tasks there are in Next. I agree with Elbert that not displaying the number reduces distraction.

I open Nirvana on one window and Nirvana 2 on another. I can't tell what came across and what did not because I don't know how many task I have in my Next List.
GRRRRRR.....
I don't see how knowing how many Next Actions you have is distracting. To me the UI looks messed up with some list having the task count and others not.
GRRRRR....
I can't even see how many task I have scheduled.
I may be the only person that does not like this and that's fine. Just wanted to express it. I don't feel comfortable with the migration because I can't tell if all my task came across correctly.
I already found some that where missing by luck and I still can't get over the disappointment I feel about the UNL not happening. This was the reason for the update for me and many others. I just don't like it.

"I don't see how knowing how many Next Actions you have is distracting." Obviously it's not distracting if you want to compare the number of tasks in Nirvana and Nirvana 2. But on a daily basis I want to know how many tasks are in Focus because that's what I'm working on. I also need to know that there are tasks in my Inbox so I'll remember to process them. And seeing the number of tasks in Waiting reminds me that there are tasks that I need to follow up on. I don't need to know about Someday because the tasks are not relevant right now and Scheduled tasks are already taken care of. So to me the task count for Inbox, Focus, and Waiting is relevant, the task count for the other lists isn't. And mixing irrelevant data (from my perspective) with relevant data is distracting. Once there is a follow-up field for Waiting, I'd even prefer not to have a task count there.
As for the UNL, I think that what we have now is an improvement over what was there before, so I'm glad about that even though it's not what I hoped - and even expected - it to be. But as Elbert has said, the real UNL will be implemented as an option soon. So I can wait a little longer and enjoy the improvements that have been introduced in version 2 - which in my opinion are quite many. And if you keep in mind that this is only the Alpha version and that our wishes and suggestions do have an impact (e.g. Later in 2.0 :-)), I think we can be excited about what's to come! So, cheer up, Proximo! :-)

I like this way better, because it's easier to see at a glance how many tasks need my attention as compared to how many I have. Just like he talks about in the book, it's important to know which tasks are timely and which are not.

OK,
I fold.
I will get used to it. :-)
